Lincoln Riley Too Ill To Do Radio Show

USC coach Lincoln Riley is not making his weekly appearance on the “Trojans Live” radio show because he is “under the weather.”

Instead, assistant head coach Dennis Simmons and defensive line coach Shuan Nua appeared on the show.

Hopefully, Riley will feel well enough to speak to reporters tomorrow.

  1. Lincoln Riley is proving to be a soft individual on a daily basis. Can you imagine Nick Saban, or Kirby Smart calling in sick? His situation is going to get worse before it gets better, because the Trojans are going to lose three out of their next four games.

  2. CLR is acting more and more like a petulant child every day. You can’t be a leader by doing this kind of crap. Ask yourself this question…would you send your child to play for CLR?

  3. Whom in their RIGHT MIND would pay the flyweight, LR, $10million a year to helm (rescue…LOL) a loser, bozo, FB program?

    1. It is turning out that every decision made by Bohn was a poor judgement. To a casual observer, Riley seemed like a golden hire, he had an amazing track record as a head coach. But Bohn should have known better. He has the resources to really dig into a candidate. He should have realized that Riley inherited the OK franchise and that the defense was trash under Riley. He should have realized that recruiting was not as good as it should have been under Riley.

An AD gets paid to be an expert or hire experts to identify the best coaching staff.

The other horrible decision by Bohn was to move to the BIG 10. The far better move would have been to go semi-independent, like Notre Dame. USC could have stayed in the Pac-12 for all sports except for football and negotiated a deal to play a certain number of games against the Pac-12 in football and then put together big games outside the conference for the remaining schedule. That would have kept the Pac-12 intact, but allowed USC to rake in $100 million in TV rights deal. There are huge challenges in being part of the BIG10 for all sports so this was really another poor long term decision. But once again, it appeared to be good to the casual eye.

I wonder if the new AD is any better?

what the fuck are you smoking? ….that is more than double what any team in college football is getting. Slow down on the kool-aide

  4. During the aftermath of the Utah loss Wiley was explaining his thoughts about what happened and he didn’t even look up as he was talking.
Surely the avalanche of criticism would adversely affect even the strongest of men of which I don’t believe he is, he being equipped with a somewhat fragile personality

It is interesting how so-called Trojan supporters have piled on, even ridiculously calling for his firing. Nasty mob psychology at work here, certainly detestable in any form,
but cooler SC heads will decide his fate

  6. I believe Cal will turn into a nail biting war next week and will go either way. Then 2 losses. UCLA will be a toss up but you have to think that the nod will go to the bruins. They are slightly less talented, tougher by far, yes better coached. Just a better football team all the way around. Garbers gives them better stability and the new kid can come in in packages for some pop. They are committed to the run too and do it well. Their defense is superior with less talent (but still good talent). Sorry to say, for more than one win down the stretch, (and maybe not even that) an anomaly will have to happen. Sorry that’s just the trend I am picking up. To give Lloyd 2 carries post first quarter is coaching malpractice. Don’t tell me it was cause he fumbled. His 5th carry was with 1:48 left in the first and it gave him 74 yard, basically averaging 15 yards a carry. The fumble happened on his 7th carry deep in the third quarter. He still averaged 13 yards a carry on the game, and probably ready to atone for the drop with more aggression he is that kinda kid. But we will never know because he was left out of the mix for 2 quarters prior to the fumble.

    1. Im not going to condone fumbles but the fumble was maybe 10th on the list of stuff that was responsible for the loss. If it was such a momentum killer, how come they came back from there to take the lead? Backs need to work through this stuff. He has put the ball on the ground one other time all season (so its not a recurring issue) and that was from a crappy high mesh point and Caleb tried to pull the ball out too late. A liability of the RPO concept. And if you don’t think UCLA hasn’t got a better team then you haven’t watched both these schools play football. Im not a UCLA guy but I am a fairly educated, realistic, non partial witness. Watching fire drill football is basically all we are seeing from usc right now. We see some continuity with a run game then it is abandoned because it is not in the bosses DNA. Its what continually happens with air raid guys. They could be getting 20yds a carry but they will have to go back to the pass because if they didn’t it would invalidate their sociopathic existence. Look at Harrell, Holgerson, Riley, Kingsberry. They just can’t resist. You go with what works until the D proves they can stop you. Every once in a while you reverse your pattern for a rep to keep them honest. This is not what’s going one right now and It will rear its ugly head at cal and more likely with UCLA.

  7. I believe you are wrong about the upcoming Cal and sucla games
And as for Number-0 that was not his first fumble of the night although he recovered the other one, but that last fumble was a momentum killer and a big reason why SC lost that game

  9. If SC loses to Cal which is distinctly possible, they’re not as bad as previous iterations, then the season scope likely focuses on not accepting a bid to the rice crispies bowl. When CW probably focuses on not letting this program diminish his draft stock any further (which is as much his issue, he’s proving to be a guy who can’t deliver on schedule which is a major NFL weakness) – he’s almost certainly played himself out of the top pick.
Thats the starting point with Lincoln Riley. Thats where the building begins. That’s when the immediate pressure can come off and he can start focusing on staff and recruits and start building something.
This year is disappointing because the trajectory of the last 2 seasons so far outpaced that of the preceding 2 under Clay. The spoiled kid in the candy shop bullshit routine of so called SC fans has quickly become tired. At least show up to games and show your true colors before saying a GD thing. The true test is yet to come. If I can’t see you at the Coli on game day I certainly can’t see you here.

  10. Learning more about the head coach from 2022 last 3 games and this year, makes me believe he is incompetent right now. He sticks with schemes that are losing games and seems to be unable to adjust. Seriously, if I were him I would give Lane Kiffen a call. Kiffen also had a sudden fall from grace at USC and figured out how to recover his career and personal life.

In the Notre Dame game the players came out with the look of deer in headlights that they could not win with their current offensive scheme against the 4-8 defensive scheme thrown at them. Riley lost his players going into that game before they hit the field.

How does he instill confidence in them now? That is his challenge.

I hate saying this but I penciled them in for 5 losses and they are headed in that direction.

  11. Scooter,

I tired to listen to the show last night at 7PM Pasadena CA time on KABC 790 AM and they had the Vikings game on instead. I tired to find the show on the internet and it was not there. What time and what station was it on?
