Lincoln Riley isn’t the only one who missed a media appearance.
Caleb Williams was not on the NIL-driven podcast the past two weeks that includes his name in the title.
Between Williams pretending to place a crown on his head in recent games; saying lions don’t worry about sheep and looking checked out at the end of the Utah game, he hasn’t acquited himself too well either under adversity.
And I haven’t even gotten around to talking about his performances the past 2 games.
- Lincoln Riley last February: “We expect to be an extremely high-level defense here at USC.”
Today: USC ranks 104th nationally in total defense
- Four-star small forward Brody Kozlowski of Draper, Utah, has committed to USC over Cal, BYU and Nevada.

That’s just who he is; I think his performance is affected less by his personality-style than by his porous offensive line

I watched a video of Caleb at the Pac-12 media day and there was just something wrong with him. It looked like he was either high or just so aloof that he couldnt answer questions straight.
Kalen Daboer is the coach that impressed me at that event. Down to earth, smart, focused, a leader.
I really wonder if Riley is considering a “life change”. Probably the only thing keeping him from making a change is that huge salary.
Riley might be another failure in Folt’s track record of failure.

Wiley too is just Wiley being Wiley which at the moment is
‘very defensive’ as criticism rains down on him and his team

One wonders if some of this anti-Trojan football rhetoric isn’t an outgrowth of last season’s Keystone Kops performance with Tulane where SC kind of became a sports laughing stock

Sort of like when Boise State beat Oklahoma in 2006. The difference is that for anyone who was paying attention, BSU had quietly put together a quality program. People still look at SC through the lens of the Pete Carroll years, and most have no appreciation for how far SC has fallen in the last 15 years. That shouldn’t be interpreted as an endorsement of Riley (who I don’t think is suited for the job), but merely an acknowledgment of the reclamation project SC is right now.

Riley appears to be a good offensive coordinator/QB coach but not head coach. Head coaches are TYPE A about the whole operation not just offense.

Several commentators have pointed out that SC’s defense aside from a couple of guys is “small” compared to Utah and ND’s basic offensive set.
Give me a good 300-pound offensive lineman over a good 250-pound defensive lineman
