USC Sunday Buzz: Depleted Troops Arrive In San Diego

USC and Louisville arrived in San Diego yesterday for the Holiday Bowl. Or what’s left of them.

The Trojans are down nearly 24 players while the Cardinals are down 12 players.

Louisville is missing Jawha Jordan and Jamari Thrash, its top rusher and receiver, as both players declared for the draft.

USC, obviously is without Caleb Williams and MarShawn Lloyd among many others.

  • I had no idea Smart & Final has a USC newsletter but when you say Louisville is “Pac-12 runner-up” you get noticed.

      Moody’s Investors Service lowered its ratings outlook on the United States’ government to negative from stable, pointing to rising risks to the nation’s fiscal strength.

      The ratings agency has affirmed the long-term issuer and senior unsecured ratings of the U.S. at Aaa.

      “In the context of higher interest rates, without effective fiscal policy measures to reduce government spending or increase revenues,” the agency said. “Moody’s expects that the US’ fiscal deficits will remain very large, significantly weakening debt affordability.”

      The firm, part of the big three rating services, said it was making the move in light of key bank failures.

      In a harsh blow to an already-reeling sector, Moody’s Investors Service cut its view on the entire banking system to negative from stable.

      The firm, part of the big three rating services, said Monday it was making the move in light of key bank failures that prompted regulators to step in Sunday with a dramatic rescue plan for depositors and other institutions impacted by the crisis.

      “We have changed to negative from stable our outlook on the US banking system to reflect the rapid deterioration in the operating environment following deposit runs at Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), Silvergate Bank, and Signature Bank (SNY) and the failures of SVB and SNY,” Moody’s said in a report.

      The move followed action late Monday, when Moody’s warned it either was downgrading or placing on review for downgrade seven individual institutions.

      The moves are important because they could impact credit ratings and thus borrowing costs for the sector.

    You’re right, the freak is so paranoid he can’t tell who’s who. Just because someone speaks out against this stale political rant, he’s quick to claim it’s a sock puppet. The guy needs some professional help. It’s really weird how he waits until late in the evening and will fire off 20 lame-ass rants all directed at Gabby in less than 30 minutes. It’s like he’s been working on them all night then copying and pasting them one after another.

    He needs to find a hobby or do something productive. The constant stalking is not normal. At 5:00am he’s obsessing over Gabby and Joe up until after 11:00pm, and then he’s back at it at 5:00am the next day. His whole life revolves around this blog……CREEPY!

They are leaving Maui and never coming back cuz she loved her kids so much she can’t bear to return to school and see which children are missing — the family lost their house and are moving in with relatives in Oregon…

I walked into my hairstylist’s place and a goofier than shit guy was talking about how Biden [yes, Biden] was “saving the island.” He was as big as Tyson Fury so I didn’t want to offend….I just said “are you joking or are you being serious?” Having no idea of the actual situation except what he hears on Happy Talk Hawaiian News the guy sez “Biden’s providing hotel rooms to all the survivors.” I tried to tell him we have 10 billion in damage and only 100 million in aid [and won’t get more unless Ukraine gets 100 billion] but, like all island dems, he wouldn’t hear of it.         I have run into people who have said the government has plenty of money to pay for everything. They have no clue.

        You could explain the details of how inflation ravages the poor and middle class to these masses, and if they are given a free hand-out, they will vote for the Dem/Republican uniparty candidate that continues to destroy the value of the dollar with horrible monetary/fiscal policies.

        My daughter, a recent USC grad, who is smart still has a hard time caring about any of this stuff. She is going to inherit this mess of an economy and because she has been brainwashed into the liberal group-think of her generation. she just thinks I am a little over worried about it.         It’s fixable, though, if we limit expenses to providing for our citizens.

      13. I see a comment here stating that removing illegal immigrants would cause inflation to skyrocket. Really? Where did you get your degree in economics?

        The core of inflation is monetary, the Fed added 7 trillion in assets to the balance sheet. Simply have the Fed continue QT long enough (at a faster pace) and dont return to massive QE. Actually, as soon as the reverse repo is drained the only entity that can absorb the future Treasury issuance is the Fed. Private investors in the US absorbed about 177 billion extra Treasuries this year (which was alot compared to previous years) and that funds the government for about ONE month. With China selling Treasuries and BOJ likely to need to sell soon, there will soon not be sufficient demand. Only the Fed can monetize the debt and drive inflation higher again.

        Housing is a large part of inflation calculation and removing alot of people from the US would result in alot more stock of housing. Housing inflation is a HUGE part of the whole inflation syndrome because it creates a wealth effect that stimulates demand above productivity in the short term.

        Healthcare is a huge part of inflation and less demand for medical services would reduce demand and allow there to be more supply of healthcare professionals, thereby reducing inflation.

        Education is a major expense of government. Once again, we are paying for the education of illegals for many years in exchange for slightly more workers.

        Sure, with full employment there would be some wage pressure, but you get rid of that by cutting government assistance programs and getting people to work.

        The big problem with illegal immigrants is that long term you are bringing in people with limited skill sets/productivity, but you have to pay for their healthcare, education, retirement, etc in the long run. Once again, these policies are myopically SHORT TERM THINKING.

        The Dems/Republicans in the Uniparty dont create policies to help working Americans. It helps very large businesses to create inflation, which is good for profits – in the short term.

Guys — We shouldn’t give Biden ALL the glory for what is gonna happen to our economy down the road —the republican house has gone along with a spending plan roughly the size of Nancy Pelosi’s [which we can’t pay for with ever decreasing revenues]. Whoever succeeds Joe Biden is gonna have one Big Mess on their hands.
      As far as sending ALL illegals back —even Trump will stop short of that. I know he’s pledged otherwise but he’ll end up sending back only those with ties to criminal enterprises and /or those with convictions [felony OR misdemeanor]. He will lobby congress to reduce benefits, though. The United States is broke.
