Top QB Julian Lewis Reclassifies But Will He Come To USC?

Julian Lewis, the top-ranked QB from the Class of 2026, will reclassify to the 2025 cycle.

Lewis, who is from Carrollton, Ga., committed to USC in August. But there is no guarantee he will actually attend USC, as this quote demonstrates.

“Georgia and Alabama have been recruiting me the hardest and have never stopped,” Lewis told 247Sports. “I know what the opportunity is at Georgia. The opportunity to win championships, be coached and developed for the next level and represent my home state.”

He is also considering Auburn, Indiana, Texas and Michigan.

  1. And what does it mean when the kid adds, “Alabama and Georgia have been recruting me the hardest and have never stopped?”
Are coaches calling the 16 year-old every day?

    1. I have doubts whether we are going to get this kid. This kid is the best player in the country as just a sophomore. I just can’t imagine Georgia letting this superstar raised in their state get away.

  2. And what do they talk about?–
“Hi Julian, it’s Coach again, what did you have for breakfast today?”

If this were me I would get an unlisted number

  3. Notice he didnt reclassify until after USC got Maiava to commit. Riley doesnt want to scare off QBs by having a really solid commitment in 2025 from Lewis communicated to everyone. As long as he is still a question mark, other QBs can rationalize that maybe he it not coming to USC.

To speculate on his commitment at this point is meaningless. With Riley QB is really the last position we need to worry about.

    1. b,

The SJSU coach did a pretty good job when he coached against SC. I think he will be able to take that team to a 7-5 or 8-4 or even better with UofA. I think UofA will be better than most of the teams in the new league that they will be playing in.

      1. I hope you’re right . Everything looks well right now for 2024. I think this is going to be a really good team….the best team LR has had at SC. But you never know. Things happen.
At the start of the 2023 season, I would have said, this is going to be a great SC team. Who ever thought Alex Grench was going to install a defense that couldn’t stop a Pop Warner team and on the offensive side of the ball, Caleb Williams was going to morph into “Sir Ball hog”.
But LR is still a young HC. He’s evolving with excellent skills to begin with(namely, he’s an offensive genius). He’s got to learn to be more like Brian Kelly and Nick Saban and even our old buddy Lou Holtz. If they don’t get the job done, bring someone else in until you find the right combination.

  4. USC has some momentum going into 2024 with the coaching changes and the Holiday Bowl. Although I anticipate a good year for USC in 2024, I don’t think Lewis keeps his commitment to USC. I hope they get him, but Why reclassify to sit on the bench behind Miller Moss for a year!? He’s obviously keeping his options open according to this article.

    1. If you go to any top program you are competing in your freshman year. And it might not benefit a freshman to play right away, they need time to learn the system and play. Actually Moss is a unselfish guy, so he would probably share reps with Julian in 2025, as soon as Julian is good enough to take some reps.

As long as Riley stays for 2025, Julian will come, but I’m betting Riley leaves for the NFL in either 2025 or 2026.

  5. There may be something to not wanting to compete because for quarterbacks there is a chance at serious bucks if they are The Man and not some second fiddle, or what was the difference between Celeb and Mosst’s “salaries”

  6. I can read between these lines and I can also translate it for you: The kid is doing the math and comparing Dollars. It’s that simple. Period.
I wish it wasn’t true but that’s the reality of College football now. I normally would not hesitate to grab some fellow alums and get some cash together. But, I told the administrators that I would never give them any more money. I’ve weathered insane billion dollar settlements for a perverted gynecologist, I even excused them for that crap with Ridley-Thomas and the payoffs to coaches for water polo scholarships for kids who didn’t play or rowers who didn’t row. But this invasion of students from Communist China – almost 7,000 in a student population of 20,900 – that’s the end. There’s a lot of local kids from local schools who are qualified to be at SC. But instead the administrators slam the door on them and then grab boatloads of kids who are not going to be helping our neighbors and community. This was supposed to be The University of Southern California not the west coast headquarters of the CCP

    1. Maybe I misunderstood you but are you saying that 1/3 of the student population at USC is from Communist China. If that’s true, that is alarming.

    2. Is that true? I didnt ever hear that 7000 students were here from the CCP. If that is true, then Carol Folt is approved by the CCP, which would make more sense why we hired such an inept President.

If I were Trump I would bann all students from the CCP coming to American universities and stealing our knowledge/tech. This is not about racial quotas, I dont care if tons of Americans who are ethnic Asians take up the best places in college. I just want to stop educating the CCP, our enemy.

  7. That is right, China has about 6500 students and India with 3000 or so.
But since both those countries have 4-5 times more people than the U.S. they probably are in need of “brainy” people to try to figure out how to keep those countries going

    1. I want us to find a way of working with both those countries [more specifically, reaching a reasonable profit sharing agreement with them] —but —isn’t it USC’s mission, being an American institution, to enlighten, guide and nurture American students?

      2. Agree, or at least students from countries that dont want to destroy us and enslave the world?

Democratic values are SO twisted these days. They pretend to care about human rights, but then sell out to the CCP every step of the way.

I’ve never been a Trump fan, but starting to warm up to the idea of another 4 years. This time around, Trump will surround himself with a dream team of people bent on destroying the deep state and the CCP’s stranglehold on our upper education system and technology theft.

      3. These universities are not american institutions anymore. They are global organizations. Same with the companies. They used to be called american companies. Now they call themselves multinational corporations. None of these organizations could care less about america anymore.
When BLM says on their website for years that their goal is to destroy america and to destroy the american nuclear family and the NBA and other professional sports organizations put BLM on their jerseys, they are actively promoting the destruction of the USA.
Today it’s all about money. They will do whatever it takes to make a big profit and if that means destroying america……NO PROBLEMA…….they can always move their HQ’s to another country.

    2. I just looked this up. It is 6500 chinese international students out of a body of 49,500, which includes both undergrad and graduate. And 3000 indian. So the proportion is lower, but the amount is still a big problem.

I totally agree that this is just plain wrong. I do think that the CCP has a powerful and detrimental influence on American higher education. The democratic party is appearing to be more and more just a puppet of the CCP.

      1. The dems are for global free trade [which benefits the elites who thrive on cheap labor —and will destroy America’s small business network ….and all the folks who work within it]. Another problem with globalism? Inevitably it will put China [a country without any concept of civil or minority rights] in charge of EVERYTHING.
