The Pete Carroll Coaching Tree Produces NFL Coach

The familiar names of the Pete Carroll coaching tree are Lane Kiffin, Ed Orgeron and Steve Sarkisian.

But Carroll’s just produced another NFL head coach as the Panthers hired Dave Canales, who back in 2009 was an offensive administrative assistant at USC.

Canales, who went to Carson High School and Azusa Pacific, followed Carroll to Seattle and the rest, as they say, is history.

After being a wide receivers coach (2010-17) and quarterbacks coach in Seattle, Canales spent the past season as offensive coordinator with Tampa Bay.

His elevation to head coach after just one season has to surprise some NFL pundits. But it’s who you know: Carolina general manager Dan Morgan worked with the Seahawks from 2010-17.

  1. Carolina’s owner is a fucking douchebag moron. He’s hated by the fans, media nd probably his players. This guy might make it a year, maybe two.

This is who you’re now working for. Good luck !

      1. DK Publishing [now owned by the CCP] put out a book on Shakespeare which, among other idiotic comments, characterized Hamlet as being “a dramatic endorsement of Marxist philosophy”….

  2. If any NFL teams approached Kiffin, he probably replied “not interested until after I play at USC in 2025”. I may need to start selling “Tarmac Revenge Tour 2025” T-Shirts.

    1. Truly amazing stuff. I really think that these coaches at the head of the top college brands benefit more from the recruiting impact of those big name schools and might not even be any better at coaching than alot of other guys in the profession. If I were at Michigan, I would promote Sherrone and save some money.

      1. Sherrone is a great football coach. But can he handle pesky reporters, alums, the university prez and the board of trustees….?

      2. …and he was a GREAT on field coach —but he used a lot of “fuck” and “shit” in post game interviews…..
[I’m sure he’s been counseled on ‘how to do interviews’ —but he’s always been a balls out guy & he’s not likely to stop now]…..

  3. The big difference is the the NFL has a cap and the players actually have contracts which prevent them from just moving from one team to the next. So it is not the same thing at all.
