USC’s 2024 recruiting class is ranked No. 18 by Rivals and No. 17 by 247 Sports.
Thirteen of the 22 recruits are defensive players, including linebacker Jadyn Walker, who officially signed today after originally committing to Michigan State.
Five players are offensive linemen. This is probably the more important number because you need linemen in the high school class. You can more easily add defensive players via the transfer portal.
It’s harder to get a linemen who comes in through the portal and does what he needs to do. Just look at the offensive linemen USC has brought in under Lincoln Riley through the portal. They haven’t been been great overall.
As I said this morning, it’s not a recruiting class that meets the standards of past top USC classes. Even Clay Helton had the nation’s No. 3 class in 2018. But USC (Riley) does better with transfers.
It is not the days of McKay and Carrot, possibly never to be again

Scooter,
Back in the days of Mckay and Robinson, they used to get around 8 olinemen. Now it is down to 5. Better than nothing. Get dlinemen is as important as well.

SC was the only game in town back then and Mckay would give scholarships to kids he knew would never play for SC in order to keep them away from sucla and others

Now USC is 5th in it’s own conference in recruiting behind Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State and Michigan.
