The departing Pac-12 teams, including USC, will still play in Pac-12 bowls in 2024 and 2025. Great. More Sun and Holiday Bowl appearances for teams. No trips to Florida? Carol Folt tweeted out this picture of McCarthy Quad. I posted another picture of McCarthy Quad from today below it. USC has received a commitment from highly regarded kicker Ryon Sayeri of Chaminade High School in West Hills. He was rated one of the top kickers in the nation and was selected to play in last month’s All-American Bowl. Sayeri made 13 of 16 field-goal attempts and all 50 extra points as a junior with a long field goal of 55 yards. He also averaged … Continue reading USC Notes: Trojans Add Kicker
I never thought much of Chip Kelly at UCLA. The irony is Lincoln Riley needed an interception by Korey Foreman (of all people) to avoid being 0-2 against Kelly. That little fact seems to escape the USC die-hards these days as both schools move to the Big Ten. The difference between the crosstown rivals is that USC is willing to throw whatever money is necessary … Continue reading Morning Buzz: USC Throws Money Before Big Ten Move, Will UCLA?
Isn’t it amazing that when Kliff Kingsbury coached Patrick Mahomes at Texas Tech (2014-16), the Red Raiders were 16-21. Hasn’t hurt Kingsbury’s coaching career one bit either. Neither did going 28-37-1 as coach of the Arizona Cardinals. The Washington Commanders are full of former USC assistants with Kingsbury and now Ken Norton Jr., who is their new linebackers coach. I’m just surprised Kingsbury’s name didn’t … Continue reading A Stat To Remember For A Teflon Coach
Pete Carroll’s name got thrown around for the UCLA job. I never saw it as a realistic possibility. UCLA couldn’t afford Carroll. It couldn’t afford his staff. It couldn’t pay off its exisiting staff, which Carroll would have fired. Then there was the question whether Carroll even wants to coach college football. Does he want to recruit? Does he want to deal with NIL? And … Continue reading So This Means Pete Carroll Didn’t Want UCLA Job?
UCLA has hired former UCLA tailback DeShaun Foster to be its next head coach. Foster was an assistant since 2017 and recently took a job as running backs coach with the Las Vegas Raiders. REACTION: In a lot of ways, this makes sense. Foster can keep the current roster together, will be popular with the players and importantly for UCLA, will not cost a lot … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: UCLA Hires DeShaun Foster
