Sunday Buzz: USC Gets Commitments From Georgia Star Linemen

USC’s big recruiting weekend yielded results as defensive tackle Justus Terry and defensive end Isaiah Gibson committed on Sunday. Both are from Georgia.

Terry, a five-star, is ranked the No. 1 defensive tackle in the country by Rivals. Gibson is a four-star.

Terry is from Manchester, Ga., and Gibson is from Warner Robins, Ga. Terry was committed to Georgia. Gibson also considered Georgia, Oregon and Oklahoma.

These are welcome additions — if the commitments hold.

UPDATED: Four-star Class of 2026 cornerback Dominick Kelly of Tampa, Fla., also committed to USC today.

    1. We are now up to SEVENTEENTH in the recruiting rankings! Only Oregon, Notre Dame, LSU and Penn State [among our 2024 rivals] rank ahead of us!

  1. Good news indeed.

Rivals has Justus Terry as 6th ranked player in the class, 24/7 has him as 8th ranked player, 6’5″, 275. Gibson is a big edge rusher at 245 lbs, supposedly has run sub 4.5 40. Hopefully these guys will take some pressure of Bear getting doubled on every play.

    Hope all Trojans are well!

      1. Yeah –actually that’s [fall ’24] where we’re 17th [I don’t know where we’re ranked at any point after that]…

  2. Well shit howdy !

Amazing what hiring people who are competent with a PROVEN track record can do for your recruiting.

These new defensive coaches just might save little Lincoln’s sorry ass.

Now, let’s get some big nasty OL.

Hopefully, these two commitments hold up 🤞

  3. AS noted by – trojan 1967, Buddhakarmaa, CR Smith, Sparrow Calypso, MG even grabbby – the well deserved ‘sacking’ of Grinch ‘before’ the season ended….a head coach that has coached 3 Heisman winners….a completely new defensive staff top to bottom combined with one of the true ‘blue bloods’ of college football and all located in the 2nd largest city in the USA and – for me – the greatest city in all the world Los Angeles = dreams to come.

Best is knowing NYC hasn’t had any say in college football since Fordham dumped their storied program in deference to ‘the princess’ just before WW2. Even fewer realize the ‘…seven blocks of granite….’ were Fordham’s front O line and one of them was Vince Lombardi.

I think this is going to be a great year for all with minimum down size from ‘superstar’ players and finally a defense staff that is going to make hard moves in disciplining sideline antics as well as dispense with coaches acting desperate and players looking elsewhere.

Be great to stick it to Kelly Labor Day weekend

      2. Yes! [I saw it all after one puff — the game will get tied soon…. and then a giant preying mantis will appear in a sky filled with pink clouds and flying saucers…. carrying Carol. on it’s back]…
