There is a complete difference of opinion about USC between many fans who expect a trip to the expanded College Football Playoff and the oddsmakers, who set the regular-season over/under at 7.5.
Who is more likely to be right?
It’s a pretty low number (7.5) for USC but the schedule is difficult. The first three games could set the tone with USC playing LSU and Michigan. Those teams have questions too, however, and like USC will have new quarterbacks, so it’s easier playing them in 2024 than 2023.
I actually think Games 4 and 5 will be interesting too. Wisconsin comes to the Coliseum and has to better now that Luke Fickell has a year under his belt. And then there is a trip to Minnesota. That can be a tough atmosphere for a game under the right conditions.
Does anyone think the Washington game will be a problem? It seems a lot less imposing with Jedd the Fisch replacing Kalen DeBoer.

Hate to admit this but SC would probably need a 10-2 record to slip into the ‘Final-12’ and the 7.5 looks more realistic

The writer at College Football News rates USC’s schedule as the toughest of all. 10 wins is not likely, 7-8 is more like it.
Or, as John McKay once put it “3 or 4 plane crashes and we’re in the playoffs.”

Minnesota is a tough game under the right conditions ? What the fuck does that mean ???????????
The game is October 5th, there won’t be any snow and it probably won’t be cold, the average temp in Minneapolis in October is 55/39, not much different than UDUB, WSU, OSU or Oregon late in the year. The weather at the UDUB game in early Nov will probably be worse that Minnesota.
Wisconsin also has Grinch coaching their DB’s, that’s a minus.
