USC Saturday Buzz: Two-Sport Star?

Five-star safety Jonah Williams and four-star safety Trey McNutt are visiting USC this weekend.

Williams wants to play baseball but how big a deal is that?

Two years ago, people were saying Duce Robinson might be a first-or-second pick in the MLB draft.

Robinson played in an entire four games this season for USC baseball. He had one hit in six at-bats.

Did you remember that a year ago defensive end Anthony Lucas said he wanted to play baseball? Never happened.

It’s really hard to get excited when a football player says he wants to play baseball.

  4. So how is Pres. Biden and the VP doing? So far so good. That Trump guy was bad and he caused millions of people to die because of the Covid. He allowed a bat to bite a pangolin in the ass at something called a wet market in China and then did nothing about it. Everybody said so. Dr. Fauci said it wasn’t a leak from a lab doing gain of function research illegally funded by the US that caused the Covid and Dr. Fauci is always right. (Ignore those pesky e-mails that say otherwise.) Pres. Biden immediately came up with a vaccine that kills the Covid cold with no side affects. Nobody has died of Covid since Biden took office except for those in red states – “the pandemic of the unvaccinated.” Just ask him. He immediately told everyone to stop wearing those stupid masks and go back to work and school and everyone did it because Biden is a humble and trustworthy government servant who receives a modest salary and pension and nothing else and Trump is a corrupt billionaire who has funny hair and orange skin. There was no loss of productivity in the workplace, and kids did really well with no loss of academic or social development once Biden took over. No bankruptcies during blue state lockdowns. Drug and alcohol addiction immediately fell under Biden and teen suicides were non existent. We had the greatest economic recovery ever. Just ask anyone. The stock market shot through the roof and inflation was under control for the first time in decades. People fled to America in droves including hundreds of known terrorists from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Russia and China. Joe Biden was so proud he stopped construction of the southern border wall and opened it up to everyone including MS13 gang members, drug cartels from Mexico, known rapists and murders and those involved with human trafficking. Fentanyl was never cheaper or more abundant. Joe used his executive orders to get us out of the “stay in Mexico” accords and we re-entered the Paris climate agreements. We agreed to reduce our carbon emissions by 50% by 2035 while the two largest fossil fuel consumers China and India made zero commitments. Biden then committed to eradicating all fossil fuel production within the US by 2050, stopped granting permits to drill on public land and blocked the Keystone pipeline. Inflation skyrocketed. The price of gasoline doubled and eggs tripled and you can’t find baby formula. The banking system is failing and the dollar is collapsing. Well, Biden did keep us out of a war. (Not really.) 100 billion spent and growing in Ukraine and Russia and China have formed the BRICS currency to replaced the US dollar as the international default currency. The withdrawal from Afghanistan was ok except for the 13 Americans who died and the fact we left an airbase and 80 billion in high grade military weapons to a terrorist country. Predictably, the troops are demoralized and recruitment is historically low but you can now learn about white aggression while in the military and get the government to pay for your sex change operation. Or you can just learn about these things in kindergarten. Well, at least the streets are safe and we have a fair and functioning justice system. After all, nobody is infringing on my right to free speech, or religious liberty, or to own a gun for protection and elections are fair. It is not like we have a bias media and we can’t find unbias news on the internet platforms.

      4. Didn’t listen to the Trump speech yesterday Gabby. But Biden/Newsom have bought into the climate change hysteria. Biden wants 60% of all cars to be EVs by 2030 and 67% by 2032. Newsom wants everything electric in California by 2035. That is a big change since only 8% of the car market today is EVs. And Biden’s friends in China own 80% of the electric car battery market. When the Chinese paid the Biden family 10 to 20 million to do them favors it was a helluva investment for them. This will cripple the US and strengthen China.

        The truly sad thing is the Biden sell out does nothing for the planet. China will continue to increase fossil emissions until 2032 and then stabilize them while the US commits to decreasing them. (See the Paris Climate Accords which Trump rejected and Obama/Biden endorsed twice.) The amount of emissions released in constructing a 1,000 pound lithium battery is staggering and involves a virtual rape of the environment particularly with regard to Cobalt which is harvested in the Congo and owned exclusively by China. The break even point for emissions from lithium batteries versus gas engines is at least 8 years. EVs are not a viable solution.

I have in-laws with longstanding, near-fatal Authority Figure issues who readily believe every absurd lie Biden tells [“Inflation was at 9% when I took office”, “the Afghan Withdrawal was an unqualified success”, “using up our oil reserves isn’t a threat to our National Security, etc.] just cuz they hate Trump so much. When I told them Trump promised to cut the deficit in half by the end of 2025 their response was “he’s a horrible person —how can you trust him?” I had to tell them “I trust him more than I trust you.”
