USC Sunday Buzz: It All Starts At The Top

When USC has a setback in recruiting these days, it’s blamed on NIL. Or even people working in the athletic dept. on NIL.

But here’s the thing: The top people in these football recruiting/NIL spots were hired by LINCOLN RILEY.

Shouldn’t Riley be getting blamed instead of people he hired?

After all, why was USC putting up with Alex Grinch? Because Riley hired him!

  • One of the underplayed aspects of recruiting has been the constant churn of employees in the recruiting dept. Savannah Reier, who was just hired in March, has accepted a job manager of player and personnel relations with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Now that at least sounds like a promotion. But others have left the dept. because of burnout or dissatisfaction with the working conditions.

  1. “. . . others have left the dept. because of burnout or dissatisfaction with the working conditions.”

Who left the recruiting dept. due to burnout or poor working conditions? Is the job really that demanding? What do they do? How many hours do they work?

      1. MG: I was watching a you tube video of Victor Davis Hanson, the former Stanford professor. He stated that for several years now Stanford has attempted to make their admissions demographic match the population. Consequently, about 12% of students were Black and roughly 67% White regardless of merit. After the George Floyd incident, they sought to lower the percentage of White students. So they did away with the SAT requirements and other merit based criteria. The White acceptance rate fell to 23% with 54% of that number being females. Remarkably, Stanford denied admissions to 70% of the applicants that had a perfect SAT score of 1600. So what were the results. Professors had to dumb down the reading lists and other requirements because the students could not handle the load that students achieved in past years. More students dropped out of STEM based majors and transferred into the social sciences. And the new graduates tended to fail at their technology jobs at an alarming rate. Google will no longer hire Stanford graduates as they did in past years. Instead, they go to places such as Cal Tech, Georgia Tech, and Texas A&M. In short, their woke/DEI policies have ruined the Brand. This has also occurred at MIT and several Ivy league schools.

      2. Exactly the reason the idiots on the Left don’t have a viable backup for Dementia Joe. Kamala checked two boxes. Those were her only “qualifications”.

      3. Kamala was also willing to fuc- Willie Brown to get the San Francisco DA job. Between her and Crooked Joe we are an absolute joke to other leaders in the world.

  2. Bitin: Who is smarter, a Maggot or a Libtard?

Stump: That’s easy, it’s a Maggot and if you don’t believe me just ask one

    1. Lawyer John is the smartest. He once denied the Holy Bible as an authoritative source for God’s judgment and the afterlife. LJ said that we all go to the same place when we die and God is not concerned with how we live our lives. He added that the Bible was “pure myth.” He later said he was thinking about writing his own book on religion. His revelations are superior to the Bible. Just ask him.

      1. Hi Plow –I can tell John has done a lot of thinking about truth, religion and myth. Although I completely disagree with his conclusions [I grow more respectful of the bible every year], I respect his observations. On the other hand, I find the overly deft “summaries” of Trump’s political philosophy unworthy of him. Bottom line: It’d be great if John moved past Trump’s personality and studied his proposed budget.

  5. Scooter,

Riley and SC are losing in the NIL battle to have players commit and stay committed to SC. My question is, is there someone who runs the NIL idea? Do they have on person in particular that knows how much to offer to a player, recruit money, know the value of the player, who works with Riley on which player Riley wants and how much to offer?

    1. What is wrong with you PT?- You are as usual being practical with the questions you are asking but we’re talking about SC here– if these Trojan NIL guys were cops it’d be of the Keystone-type

      1. Sparrow,

I sincerley thank you for calling me practical. I read just before I responded to you that the person in charge of the NIL is Dave Emhart. He sounds like he is not doing his job properly. I hope you are well. Thank you for being part of this board.
