USC’s media day was yesterday and there was an immediate red flag.
Offensive line coach Josh Henson said that four players have a chance to start at right guard: Alani Noa, Amos Talalele, Gino Quinones, and Micah Banuelos.
You know what that means? That USC has a lot of “OK” guards but not one that stands out. At least at the moment. But this has been something I’ve harped on in the offseason (and last season and the season before that . . .).
Hopefully, someone emerges. But four guys have a chance? That sounds bang average. And you’ve got still some questions at left guard and tackle too.
- I’d like to see USC play a season-opener in Dublin but no way Lincoln Riley will go for it.

4 guys who can start at right guard? Excellent! In short yardage situations I would run a Super Jumbo Package with triple 3 of those guys in Tight End formation and I’d move our best beastly blocking Tight End to the Slot position. Nothing like beef, and lots of it!
