Jen Cohen Finally Addresses USC-Notre Dame Rivalry

The good news is USC athletic director Jen Cohen finally answered a question about the USC-Notre Dame rivalry.

The bad news is she didn’t rise to the level of enthusiasm that Notre Dame’s athletic director and coach have for the rivalry.

“Tradition will always be important for us,” Cohen said on 710-AM. “I think that’s what seperates USC from a lot of other programs, and USC-Notre Dame is a storied rivalry.

“One that means so much to our fans, not just here but our fans across the country. Ultimately, we’re always going to do what’s best for our student-athletes and you’re right, things are changing but tradition is part of doing what’s best, too.

“So we’re going to do what we can to honor that and evolve in this space as we go.”

That last sentence is the key. “Do what we can” and “evolve in this space as we go.”

Cohen has left herself some wiggle room to back out of the rivalry if Lincoln Riley starts whining too much about the schedule.

I hope she realizes the backlash she would create if the rivalry were discontinued. She will find out that there are more important things than listening to Riley.

  1. Jen Cohen is a total loser as an AD. She refuses to fire that lousy Men Volleyball Coach.
Jeff Nygaard is a former ‘Ruin player who has done absolutely nothing !

      1. I am definitely not a Trumper. Your response was lame and not to the subject

matter. Why should Nygaard be retained. Facts please. Related to him or Cohen?

  2. Kamel-a: According to the latest polls if you and I were race horses I would be ‘Silky Sullivan’ running from way back in last place to beating you by a nose at the finish line

  3. We have brought in a bunch of carpetbaggers – not only Riley and his crew but also all the players through the portal – none of them understand the USC tradition. Look at how they prepared for and played UCLA!

If they drop the ND game, I hope the Board has the backbone to fire Riley (maybe that will happen anyway if he doesn’t perform this year – at least I hope.) and Folt and Cohen.
