The past couple days USC practices were closed to the media so there’s been a little lull in news.
With USC now practicing in pads, just what exactly is the commitment to the running game? Woody Marks, the transfer from Mississippi State, is slated to start. I wouldn’t classify him as an upgrade from MarShawn Lloyd.
A’Marion Peterson and Quinten Joyner are candidates to play along with true freshman Bryan Jackson.
But are any of these guys going to force Lincoln Riley to commit to running the ball? Riley’s not a big run guy so the backs (and the line) are going to need to force him to run more.
That’s important with USC in the Big Ten. It needs a physical offense, especially on the road. Will Meathead adjust?
- The Big Ten is holding media days for women’s volleyball in Chicago. The Pac-12 never had media days.
OLYMPIC MOMENT OF THE DAY
Ireland has won a record four gold medals at the Paris Olympics. Boxer Kellie Harrington won the gold in boxing last night (following her gold in Tokyo) and then serenaded the Irish fans with “Grace.” It was a wonderful scene so I’m including two videos of it.

Wiley develops quarterbacks to throw the ball not hand the ball off. Just because Wiles is in the ‘Big-16 (or is it Big-18?) doesn’t mean he is going to change, and besides, he doesn’t have any Reggie Bush-types waiting in the wings

‘Former Trojans’ above predicts a 5-7 SC record. If so, what do the Trojans do with Wiley and the $70-million left on his contract? The scary part is that because of poor recruiting this 2024 Trojan team might be Wiles’ best at SC for the next 2-3 years

-But not all is lost for the SC Bandwagoners because a team doesn’t have to be perfect to get into the ‘Final-12 Tournament,’ a 10-2 probably would do it. Trouble is for SC those 2-losses could come in quick early succession
