USC Notes: A Special Teams Coorindator (Sort Of)

Since the NCAA has expanded the number of coaches on staff, some USC staffers have received new titles.

Ryan Dougherty, who was senior special teams analyst, is now special teams coordinator.

I don’t see this making any difference. Dougherty worked with Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma (2017-21) and then came to USC last season. So it’s not like USC went out and hired a big-time special teams coach.

Taylor Mays is now assistant defensive backs coach. He was a defensive analyst. Zach Crabtree is assistant offensive line coach. He was a graduate assistant.

  • Courtney Morgan, who played at Westchester High School, has agreed to a three-year deal at Alabama that will keep him as the football program’s general manager and pay him $825,000.

He had been courted by USC earlier this summer. Interesting that USC would high six-figures toward a recruiting position but doesn’t want to pay a special teams coordinator.

      1. You are the senile maroon who claimed Curtis Conway never returned a kickoff in his USC career. No wonder you aren’t going to the USC-LSU game- you are Charlie Bucket the UCLA Fan.

      2. Waste of time, aka Maroon

Reminder, Maroon means moron in bugs bunny terminology. I know you don’t remember pertenant facts, but you do know everyone who has intruded themselves in your two orifaces. You better get going because the West L.A. Boys Club missed their 30 appointments yesterday with you and now you have 60 appointments for today. But i know you will enjoy each and every one of them.

  1. A special teams analyst becomes the special teams coordinator, so apparently Wiley is not blind to how ‘special teams’ is an integral part of football
