That Maryland Loss Isn’t Holding Up Today

Minnesota is currently beating Maryland, 41-10.

This just shows what an awful loss it was USC to lose to the Terrapins.

It means Maryland lost to Northwestern, 37-10, beat USC and is getting blown out by Minnesota in a three-game span.

There’s no excuses for that loss. It was always considered a sure victory on the schedule.

Lincoln Riley didn’t help, of course, with his weird clock management decisions, etc. You can blame the refs for a controversial spot at the end.

But this game never should have come down to a couple decisions. It should have been a rout for the Trojans.

    1. But, USC is just 4 plays from being undefeated !

SC could finish 4-8, Riley must get 2 wins to be eligible for the Raid Ant Killer Bowl, aren’t you excited !

  1. Scott is thankfully not fanboy media, however, he is bordering on being hater media. I mean, can Scott find anything positive to say? The young OL has gone from terrible to average. There, I did for him.

  2. I thought the Minnesota loss was humiliating. So I really don’t care that Minnesota beat Maryland. Both losses were humiliating. And losing to “no quarterback” Michigan was painful too. Blowing the lead to Penn State may have been the most painful loss. The fact is that we have had a relatively easy schedule this year and are 4 and 4. As Scott said, we are an average team.

  3. Above average offense with bekow average defense = average team

Defense is just slightly better than last 2 years.

Coach is really not qualified to be successful HC in Big 10.

Demote him and maybe he will be humiliated and quit.

  4. This morning’s LAT letter to sports editor written by Mark Walher – Yorba Linda – notes “…My feelings is that Riley is one tear away from making the playoffs. So, give him a year…:

That is what I believe is true too.

    1. So in one year he’s going to recruit MD & SLB as well as So Cal, recruit the OL & DL like his job depended on it, learn clock management, hire a competent OL coach, hire a top special teams coach, learn to run the ball, embrace USC’s historied tradition as well as mingle with the ex players, alums and fans ?

      1. Yes, I believe he shall.

Marrio Cristobal is in his 2nd go-round as HC for the Hurricanes and 2nd year as the their head coach. He’s also an alumni of Miami-Hurricanes and currently has a 8 – 0 record and looks like a solid lock for the ACC Title as well as a 1st round bye in the playoffs.

Brian Kelly LSU 3rd year @ LSU and sits at 6 – 2…know more two weeks from yesterday as they are @ AL

Brent Venables OK n- started out at 3 – 0 now sporting 4 – 4 with MO, AL and LSU in November.

Marcus Freeman ‘the princess’ – 3rd year sitting at 7 – 1 but is deceiving based on the opponents faced

Point? This is a year admittedly filled with frustrating failures. I believe the balance of the season will show progress (wins) and remember Pete Carroll is there for mentoring….

Muss is intense and SC will be highly competitive this year.

FYI – Few played starters throughout game and our guys won by 2.

    Time for positive news here.
