The South Bay Athletic Club met today and among the things happened was a eulogy to John Robinson delivered by John Mazur, who was the starting QB in 1981. You can watch the game in today’s notes column.
- It doesn’t look like USC even had a Homecoming rally this week. That would have been inconceivable back in the day. Remember in 1950, Mickey Rooney hosted the bonfire rally.
- Kiyan Anthony, the son of Carmelo Anthony, committed to Syracuse over USC. It seems like a lot of recruiting battles so far with Eric Musselman have USC being among the final group but not landing the prospect.
Six of the 10 top-ranked players in the nation for the Class of 2026 are from Southern California. Right now, nothing I hear has any of them going to USC.
Beat NE that’s what we need.. kudos for the new QB

Maiava is talented. Hopefully, he will energized the offense and give us some momentum.

Riley lost 10 times at Oklahoma in 65 games.
In the last two years at USC, he has lost 10 times in 22 games. And 12 of those games had Caleb Williams.

1967 I know most here want Riley swinging from a gibberish based on this awful year. He has a real problem with relaxing.he seems a control freak which is surprising considering he came from another legacy program- OK.
I believe as Plow Horse is right per Maiava. This wasn’t all Miller Moss’ fault nor all Riley’s but it seems Moss’ skill steadily declined esp his inability to ‘close a game. Mark Sanchez made thst point discussing why NFL teams lose games. He stated the talent is near identical but the little things- clock mmt, ilega procedures, off sides, calling time outs wasting them, poor special team prep etc. I wish Moss success @ MI but it is apparent it was time for a much needed change. Much as we rag onRiey he isn’t wrong of the <20 points from a 9 – 0 record over 9 games.

Alv, agree 100%. To follow up, it is interesting that the control freak personality doesn’t have attention to detail, including the tulane meltdown, losing to utah with their second string QB, refusing to fire grinch until it was too late, failing to coach up the O-line, ignoring the run game… One telling issue is that many of those who struggled at USC or who didn’t play are now excelling at other programs. The whole is much less than the sum of the parts.
