USC Saturday Buzz: Culture Matters

An Arizona State defensive lineman recently turned down a $1 million offer from Texas.

Do you think a Lincoln Riley-coached player would do that?

How much did tailback Quentin Joyner get to go to Texas Tech?

Culture matters. I rest my case.

  • This is a crazy story. Wide receiver Ryan Pellum of Millikan High School in Long Beach was committed to USC but then surprised nearly everyone by flipping to Oregon on Signing Day last year.

He entered the transfer portal earlier this week. Then it emerged Friday that Pellum is accused of pistol-whipping a person in California on Christmas Day. He then allegedly fired two rounds in an unknown direction.

A nationwide extraditable warrant was issued for his arrest in Long Beach on a charge of assault with the use of a firearm, according to an affidavit. Court records show that Taylor is due back in court on January 23rd. He is no longer enrolled at Oregon.

  • The USC track preseason banquet is today at the Coliseum. You know how much a ticket cost? $150. That is not a misprint. $150!!! And $25 for parking. The food better be good.

If you don’t believe me, here’s the proof.

  • Mick Cronin got ejected last night at Maryland by referee Jeffrey “High Knees” Anderson, who is one of the best officials in the nation and has worked seven straight Final Fours.

Here is why he is called High Knees.

  1. KAM: So the ‘world is waiting to hear what you said to Obama that cracked him up

DON: We were having a good time so I good-naturedly told him that “You don’t much look like a president”

    1. JUST IN: President Biden says he could have and would have won the 2024 election, says Kamala Harris could have and would have won too. Someone should tell him that Kamala did in fact run and did not win.

      1. Joey is too busy spending money we don’t have, making sure illegals can’t be sent back and generally phucking up the country as bets he can in the time he has left.

  2. All you had to do to “watch” that Ohio St-Texas sleeper was to see the football loose with the Ohio St guy taking it all the way back for 28-14, game over

      1. Ryan Day has a lot of angst that has been building:

        1. 4 years i.e. losses to MI…
        2. watching IN face PA St. for Big10 CCG….
        3. the entire 4th estate on the side of ‘the princess’ a week from this coming Monday…I have no real affection for either program but objectively I see a OH St. victory….

  3. With thousands losing their multi-million dollar homes they will need immediate shelter, so here comes another ‘land boom’ with prices going up for the now needful millionaire purchasers

    1. We already had a housing shortage. The Dems opened up the southern border and let in 12 to 20 million unvetted migrants. Newsom declared California a sanctuary state and started giving billions in health care, housing, welfare, and unemployment benefits to illegals who never contributed to the tax base. And now we have the fires with thousands of people needing a home. What a nightmare. People are going to start renting out bedrooms and garages.

  4. Ohio State has two outstanding interior defensive lineman. Texas had the ball on the one yard line and knew they couldn’t run it up the middle. They went outside and suffered a 7 yard loss and then the fumble and run back. USC is trying to what Ohio State has done and putting millions of NIL money into the interior defensive line. I think it is a good strategy.

    1. IMO, Sark made a mistake calling the sweep. Bring in a tackle as a blocking FB and give the middle another shot on second down from the one. Second and goal at the one turning into third and goal at the 8 is a nightmare.

    1. If you really cared about rents you would oppose Open Borders Democrats flooding the country with tens of millions of illegal aliens who pack a house with 30 people and drive up rents.

  5. So Ryan Pellum pistol whipped someone on Christmas day, is no longer with Oregon and is now available in the transfer portal. Back in the day with Paul Dee as the athletic director, Miami would have offered him.

      1. Exactly! Most of them are whiny Libs who voted for the dementia, incompetence & weakness that has played a factor in the conflicts we’ve seen erupt on feeble old Joe’s watch. The timing is NOT a coincidence. Their getting a dose of the type of destruction they chose for other people. Fortunately for them, without the tremendous loss of life those other countries have seen. A dozen or so doesn’t compare to more than 500K.
