It won’t be a surprise if Pete Carroll hires his sons with the Raiders.
Especially since his son Nate was fired last week by the Carolina Panthers, where he was passing game coordinator. He had only been with the Panthers for one season.
Most people don’t realize how awkward the firing must have been. Panthers coach Dave Canales was hired as an assistant strength coach at USC under Pete Carroll in 2009.
He then followed Carroll to Seattle and was with the Seahawks from 2010-2022. He worked his way from wide receivers coach to passing game coordinator to quarterbacks coach.
Canales is now a significant part of the Carroll coaching tree. So how wrong did things go in Carolina for him to fire Carroll’s son after one season? And was it even Canales’ doing? He certainly would damage his relationship with Pete Carroll by doing it and a lot of his former coaches don’t want to offend him (an exception was Lane Kiffin).
“If I had to bet, I would say the organization made him do it,” an NFL coach said.
Well, the Panthers were 30th out of 32 teams in passing:

Colombia. I wondered why a sportswear company would feel the need to surrender. 😉

Dallas Cowboys hire veteran OC Brian Schottenheimer as their next head coach.
Eleven days after announcing their divorce from Mike McCarthy, the Dallas Cowboys are hiring Brian Schottenheimer, Dallas’ offensive coordinator the past two years, the team announced Friday.
The decision follows Cowboys interviews with Philadelphia Eagles offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, former New York Jets head coach Robert Saleh, former Minnesota Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier and Schottenheimer.
Schottenheimer became a serious candidate later in the franchise’s search, meeting with club owner and general manager Jerry Jones and team brass first on Tuesday and then again Wednesday. No other candidate received a second meeting, while Schottenheimer’s conversations with Jones spanned multiple days.

Jerry Jones is a meddler. No decent coach wants to work for him.

Nepotism is alive and well is sports. Typically starts in youth sports with the coach’s son being the pitcher in baseball or the quarterback in football. Now we see it in the pro ranks. Can you imagine being a veteran NFL receiver and the coach’s son who never played big time football tells you that he doesn’t like your route running and demonstrates how to change it.

If it takes 18 months to detoxify and remove debris the town is finished. People will lose interest in rebuilding. Their elementary school children will be graduating from high school before they get to move back into the old neighborhood.

A football coach who is a friend of Pete Carrot would want to keep that friendship going.
And how do you rate these assistant coaches?- is there really much difference between them i.e. how much better can I coach up my defensive line?

But got to feel for the Buffalo kid who couldn’t hold on to the pass, a play that in all likelihood would have set up at least a tying 3-pointer for the Bills.
However even if he had made an initial catch he has to maintain possession, and he was immediately pounced on by a KC defender trying to knock the ball out. So it was a difficult play
