New USC general manager Chad Bowden is the son of baseball analyst and former executive Jim Bowden, who at one time worked for Fox Sports West as an insider for the Dodgers and Angels.
He currently works as a baseball analyst for ESPN and co-hosts a show on Sirius XM radio. He was a general manager/senior executive with the Cincinnati Reds, Montreal Expos and Washington Nationals.
Here’s a tidbit from his Wikipedia bio: “In February 2009, it was reported that Bowden along with former special assistant Jose Rio were part of an FBI federal investigation into the skimming of signing bonus money from Latin American baseball players. He resigned from the Nationals on March 1, 2009.”
- Ohio State defensive coordinator Jim Knowles is finalizing a three-year deal to become the new defensive coordinator at Penn State. It averages $3.1 million over three years according to Pete Thamel.
So the Dad skimmed some Latin players out of a portion of their signing bonus. Surprised Folt allowed the hire to go through. You know, apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, ect. Couldn’t get the Hawaiian senator’s confirmation vote with this background.
“So you think I’m skimming Mike, huh? Let’s just say your unlucky.”
