Why do people still take what Lincoln Riley says seriously?
Remember when he said in 2023 after USC nearly choked away a big lead against Colorado that things were not the same as the previous year, “not to the trained eye, not to a coach.”
Yesterday, he said the new staff/coaching hires proved trained people see USC’s progress as a program.
“They see things that, honestly, sometimes the average fan is maybe not going to quite recognize, because it’s their profession,” Riley said.
Note the disdain (again) for the public.
- Let’s be real: Chad Bowden was hired by Jen Cohen, not Riley. He was given a $700,000 a year raise. He came because Cohen did not see the program “progress.” And Bowden is bringing in his own team because of shortcomings — not progress — within the program.
Rob Ryan and his size XXXXXL quarter zip were brought in by D’Anton Lynn, not Riley.
Look at the offensive hires. Riley promoted Zach Hanson to offensive line coach and Luke Huard to offensive coordinator (who will not call plays). Is that “progress” in any way? They are Riley loyalists. Yes men.
The progress is that Riley is being stripped of power by Cohen/Bowden.
Even those of us with untrained eyes can see that.
- I’ve heard positive comments from people on campus about the appointment of USC general counsel Beong-Soo Kim as interim president. They say he treats people better than typical administrators.
- Mamie Van Doren turns 94 today!
Here she is with USC running backs Al Carmichael (37) and Jim Sears (21), along with actor Tony Curtis (32) from the movie “All-American.” They are wearing actual USC uniforms too.

Democrats like Cowardly Gabby aka Charlie Bucket the UCLA Fan aka TebowObama aka The Guy who posts as So Cal’s Wife & Michael Guarino & LawyerJohn & Pudly & Plow Horse & steveg49 & DOJ & Scott Wolf & Kathy & Foreskin Thoughts & Frank Young have an odd view of progress: There is a US agency, the USAID, with a $50B budget, that was redundant to our US State Dept, but with next to zero oversight or transparency, funding all sorts of ridiculous and partisan projects and allies. Democrats are defending this up to and including the threat of violence.

USAID is dead, they might as well lease out the building because it’s not going to be used for pissing away our tax dollars anymore.

USC General Manager Chad Bowden Reveals Why He Left Notre Dame, Marcus Freeman: “Notre Dame did everything they could to keep me there,” Bowden said. “USC, for me, it meant more to me. When I was a kid, I watched Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush. That was my team. LenDale White. [Dwayne] Jarrett. All of those guys. USC kind of held something in my heart. I think it’s the greatest city in the United States of America, Los Angeles. I think it’s the city of opportunity. I think USC and the type of degree that young people can get as far as the connections, the network, can truly set them up for the rest of their lives. And I thought coming here, I could have the type of success that I want to have and I can be able to sustain it, and it’s a big reason why I chose USC.”

Gabby,
I think Bowden is what SC needs. I am hoping that he can get Jen Taco Lita Cohen on board. She has been way too soft on the status of the program. If she start talking about the program, that will put pressure on riley to get it right. We will see

Riley says “coaches see things that, honestly, sometimes the average fan is maybe not going to quite recognize, because it’s their profession.”
I don’t think Riley is going after the average fan. He is taking a swipe at Scott, other sportswriters and perhaps some of the members of this blog. So what don’t we recognize? That the head coach is clueless about game management? That he can’t seem to win a close game. That tackling and coverage on defense is still a problem? Offensive line play is inconsistent? That two of your five star receivers left the program along with the starting running back and all conference left guard? That the program can’t seem to land a big recruit from Southern California? And that most of our four and five star recruits flipped to other programs.

Benjamin Netanyahu gave Donald Trump a golden pager in a symbolic reference to the covert operation that turned Hezbollah devices into lethal explosives in an attack last year.
Text on the pager, placed in the middle of a dissected tree trunk, reads: “Press with both hands.”
A small placard on the bottom of the trophy-like gift, says: “To President Donald J. Trump, our greatest friend and greatest ally. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.”

Millions were stupid enough to get conned by MSM in 2020. As I have stated, forget what happened with the ballots. The Big Lie that MSM sold to the most gullible among us that Joe was fit for office was election interference/fraud all on its own.
They pretty much admitted Joe couldn’t beat Trump in an honest election, in which voters had the facts, when they forced him out after their Big Lie got exposed on June 27.
Thank God this second attempt by MSM to sell a candidate who didn’t really exist failed. Many were not going to be conned again.
