USC will not have a spring football game, joining schools like Ohio State and Nebraska.
It’s not exactly a surprise given Lincoln Riley’s attitude toward the public. All spring practices will be closed so the public now will not get any chance to see the team.
Tampering with players who do well in televised spring games and injuries are concerns cited by coaches at other schools for canceling the spring game.
USC is going to have an event in the spring for former players and says it will hold a fan appreciation day during fall camp. Woopee!!
It’s amazing that Pete Carroll actually survived with practices open to the public and several spring and fall camp scrimmages.
But’s he not a small man like Sir Lincoln of Riley.
This is bs. Jen needs to weigh in and I mean like a bean and cheese from Taco Lita. Here’s a concept for LR – the fans matter. They actually enjoy watching football being played.

Well since Riley doesn’t feel the need to show his team to the public and donors maybe it is time to stop donating.

Heard that USC flipped Jonas Williams, a 2026 quarterback commit to Oregon. So USC is going to have Husan Longstreet in 2025, Jonas Williams in 2026, and Ryder Lyons in 2027. I don’t think so. We are going to pay big bucks for these guys and if they do not start as underclassmen they are going to the transfer portal. Since their NIL is well north of one million, not a good investment.

Regarding spring ball and no spring game, like Porky Pig would say, “Weeeeeeeeellllllllll that all folks”.
SC football is done. To get the fans excited about the team for the fall you gotta have the fans show up at spring. Riley is not the best marketer in the world.

It’s not just the fans, but the local community. When we’ve attended the spring game, we saw a lot of local families who would never be able to attend a regular game at today’s ticket prices!
But for one day, they were able to be a part of something and dream that maybe one day one of their kids might be able to go to USC. Lincoln doesn’t value that the way Pete did and that’s a shame.
