JuJu Watkins Suffers Season-Ending Injury

JuJu Watkins tore her ACL in the first quarter of last night’s USC game at the Galen Center, a devastating blow for the Trojans, who advanced to the Sweet 16 with a victory over Mississippi State.

USC will now play Kansas State on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Spokane without its star player and if the Trojans win, likely play UConn.

The injury marred what was expected to be festive evening as 7,808 attended at the Galen Center.

As USC routed Mississippi State, Watkins taken to the hospital for an MRI. USC announced late Monday night that her injury was season-ending.

Without Watkins, USC will rely on freshmen guards Avery Howell and Kayleigh Heckel. They combined for 31 points last night.

Things got testy even during the post-game handshake.

  1. That wasn’t even a player mouthing off to Marshall! It was assistant coach Tony Dukes. What a punk!

It was a Bulldogs player who was trying to start shxt on the court and Marshall wasn’t having it. Congratulations to Marshall and the rest of the team, who all stepped up to fill the huge void left by JuJu’s exit.

    Keep it going, Ladies!!

JuJu, wishing you the best for a speedy recovery.

      1. Crying again and just lobbing the accusation at me of what SHE always does. Typical Village Idiot/Big Pehdo/Cowardly Gabby/Let’s Meet Up/Abby Normal/Skunk at the Picnic/Yapping Chihuahua/etc.

Now her lame attempt to get me not to call out her stupidity & hypocrisy…”you touched the hot stove”! LOL!! So lame.

      2. Here’s the problem: Cowardly Gabby needs treatment for her paranoid schizophrenia condition. It is a fairly common (and can be severe) mental illness: about 0.32% of the population suffers from it. [Let’s see. There were 331 million Americans in the 2020 Census. I don’t believe they diagnose it (for sure) until one’s late teenage years, so let’s apply it to those Americans and Traitors like Cowardly Gabby 18 and over. Google says that 258 million Americans are 18 years old & older: 258 million x 0.0032 = 825,600 people adults who suffer from paranoid schizophrenia, just like Cowardly Gabby.

  2. Maybe they’ll play more as a team without her. Injuries are part of the game and you have to suck it up and deal with it, no one is going to cry for SC.

  3. Scooter,

the two freshman guards played well last night to pick up the void of Ju Ju. If SC is to move forward, then they have will have to play the way that they did last night. Strong action is needed from the center and forwards like last night.

    1. Key was ” played as a team ” not relying on one player, who is probably the best player in women’s college basketball, but this is where they can pull together and fight on, as they say.

  4. Sorry she got hurt so badly, but team scored 93 pts. w/o her.

Kiki is the real force on this team when featured. She doesn’t

play out of control or miss so many outside shots. Was it Juju’s

same foot that she sprained vs. UNCG on Saturday?

    1. ACL is ligament that connects the thigh bone to the shin bone. It wasn’t her foot.

The ankle roll was on her left. This ACL tear is her right.

      1. Absolutely correct regarding the anatomy. What I took from that comment is that weakness/instability in the ankle can affect the knee since it is the next stop on the kinetic chain, assuming it is the same leg. But as you note, the ankle roll was on her other side.

      2. One thought: If you’re playing with any type of ankle injury [slight or serious] you’re making adjustments — in other words, you’re doing things [probably slightly] differently than you’re used to….and this can lead to unrelated [anatomically speaking] injuries.

      3. I had the same thought, MG. But watching the replay, I really think the primary cause was the Mississippi State player pushing her body (hip) into JuJu. Even without the ankle roll the result probably would have been the same.

The Bulldogs pushed the line between competitive play & dirty play. I love the way they crowd got into it. Gottleib also made her case well, without getting a T.

      6. Yeah, when Marshall got into it with that “Lady” Bulldog over the ball and there was merely a stoppage in play and no actual timeout, Gottlieb walked all the way to the key to express her concern (without getting a technical) only to say “Hi” to everyone! LMAO!!

Her stupidity is never ending. Proves it in virtually every post. She just loves to cry about anything & everything.

Lame excuse and more lies in 3, 2, 1…

    1. Michael, I recall Klay Thompson tearing his Achilles tendon shortly after he completed his rehab for his ACL injury. It was on the same leg, and he missed another year or so of playing.

      1. Many, many [many] years ago, I sprained my right ankle before I boxed this southpaw —I always tried to slide right when I boxed a southpaw…but I couldn’t put full weight on my right leg so I placed more weight on my left leg than usual……long story short, I ended up really screwing over my left hip….. I just wasn’t used to moving that way…..
