Morning Buzz: USC Or San Diego State About To Be Proven Right/Wrong

USC took a commitment yesterday from offensive tackle Chase Deniz of Cathedral Catholic in San Diego. He didn’t even have any stars yet from Rivals and his only offers were from Sacramento State, Nevada and Fresno State before USC offered him Wednesday. Of course, Rivals suddenly awarded him three stars AFTER the commitment. Was this Chad Bowden’s decision or did Lincoln Riley play a part? … Continue reading Morning Buzz: USC Or San Diego State About To Be Proven Right/Wrong

When Will JuJu Watkins Return?

JuJu Watkins was named the U.S. Basketball Writers’ Assn. Player of the Year today. I don’t think I agree with ESPN analyst Rebecca Lobo in the clip below that assumes Watkins will redshirt next season. I think it’s too soon to know. She mentions that Paige Bueckers of UConn took a year off. But people respond differently and recovery times are not always the same. … Continue reading When Will JuJu Watkins Return?

I won’t say general manager Chad Bowden is the sole reason because things started changing before he got hired. Remember, Riley met Mater Dei coach Raul Lara for the first time at Mater Dei … Continue reading USC Shows New Philosophy On Recruiting

USC Notes: A General Manager Can Fire A Coach?

Stanford general manager Andrew Luck fired football coach Troy Taylor today. The GM can fire the coach? Can Chad Bowden fire Lincoln Riley? Now a couple things about Stanford. It doesn’t currently have an athletic director, so the decision fell to Luck. But the question remains why did Stanford keep Taylor following two investigations into his behavior but only fire him after ESPN reported on … Continue reading USC Notes: A General Manager Can Fire A Coach?

JuJu Watkins Suffers Season-Ending Injury

JuJu Watkins tore her ACL in the first quarter of last night’s USC game at the Galen Center, a devastating blow for the Trojans, who advanced to the Sweet 16 with a victory over Mississippi State. USC will now play Kansas State on Saturday at 5 p.m. in Spokane without its star player and if the Trojans win, likely play UConn. You can watch the … Continue reading JuJu Watkins Suffers Season-Ending Injury
