Morning Buzz: If USC Takes Transfer, Who Decides?

Lincoln Riley said USC “may” take a linebacker in the transfer portal. He doesn’t know for sure because D’Anton Lynn and Chad Bowden will probably make that decision instead of him.

Do you think Lynn and Bowden would let Riley decide if they need another defensive player? They can just go to Jen Cohen if he balks.

For people who don’t read this blog regularly, I will just mention from time to time that Cohen is not thrilled with Riley and brought in Bowden.

  • Five-star guard Braydon Burries committed to Arizona. USC was a finalist.
  • The USC-Loyola Marymount baseball game last night took 4 hours and 18 minutes. Can you imagine sitting through that?

USC scored seven runs in the ninth inning and won, 14-6, to earn its sixth straight victory. The Trojans improved to 21-11 overall.

  • Four-star basketball player Elzie Harrington, a 6-5 shooting guard from St. John Bosco, decommitted from USC.

  1. KAM:Two years ago,Riley Gaines was ambushed by freaks like Cowardly Gabby at San Francisco State University for speaking the truth. Tonight, she returned to the same campus—unshaken, unafraid, unapologetic. A pro-trans protestor attempted to disrupt her speech but Cowardly Gabby was quickly removed.

DON: The difference between then and now? Truth is gaining ground under the Trump presidency—and the other side knows it!

  2. KAM:  Internal State Department documents reveal that on Feb. 1, 2023, while a Chinese surveillance balloon was floating across our nation collecting intelligence, Senile Joe Biden officials were more concerned about how exposing this breach would affect our “relationship” with Red China. Seriously?

DON: That’s right — instead of immediately shooting down this obvious threat to national security, then-Secretary of State Antony Blinken and his team were busy playing diplomatic footsie with Beijing.

  4. KAM: In 2021, the California Community Colleges Chancellor’s Office reported that about 20% of college applicants were likely fake. In January 2024, the state said it was up to about 25%.Now it’s around 34%, according to the most recent data from the last calendar year. “Those are all the ones that are stopped,” said John Hetts, executive vice chancellor for the data team at the chancellor’s office.

DON: The scammers that aren’t stopped have stolen tens of millions in taxpayer dollars.

    1. One report said that Stanford LB transfer David Bailey wants 2 million and USC may be balking at that price. USC may also have some interest in Boise St. transfer Andrew Simpson who played at St. John Bosco. Bailey is primarily an edge rusher and we seem to have enough players at that position. I would pass on him at that price. Simpson is a 240 lb. inside backer. He looks like a good fit for what we need.

  5. KAM: One of the ways Jill Biden’s and the president’s top aides tried to weather the calls for him to step down, according to Allen and Parnes, was by inflicting “serious reputation damage” on Harris in the weeks following the debate. “They sent electronic messages to people trashing the vice president, saying if you keep pushing on Joe Biden to get out, you’re going to end up with Kamala Harris, and that’s going to be a huge mistake,” Allen told Vanity Fair. Jill didn’t like the VP in part because she “had never gotten over” Harris’s racially charged attack—during the 2020 primary campaign—on Biden’s opposition to federal busing mandates designed to integrate public schools in the 1970s. Allen and Parnes describe her as “the keeper of the vindictive flame for the family.” Even after the election, she remains “really bitter at Harris,” according to a family friend.

Jill’s “venom was even more potent” when it came to former House speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.). Pelosi’s daughter quipped, “If I was Lady McBiden, I’d put on my big girl pants, play the long game, and think about my husband’s legacy,” she said.

DON: Alexandra Pelosi is right, obviously, but only if you care about the Democrats and support their longstanding efforts to ruin America. Most normal citizens can agree that Jill Biden should be honored for her efforts, however ill-intentioned, to burn the party down in a frantic attempt to stay in power. Rarely in the course of human events has one individual’s reckless ambition and extreme pettiness had such a positive impact on her country’s future. On behalf of a grateful nation: Thank you, “Dr.” Jill.

  6. Scooter,

That is the second time that SC’s baseball team has come back from the depths of the abyss and to win the game. Who cares how long it took. SC needs all the wins that they can get. They will need around 35 wins to get into the playoffs. They have 23 games left. They need at least 14 wins. That would make them 14-9 in this last part of the season. cheer for them instead of complaining.
