Saturday Buzz: USC Holds Private Coliseum Workout

USC practices at the Coliseum today. Not that it matters to the public.

Yesterday, I mentioned the Swim with Mike fundraiser was held at USC last weekend. I’m told Lincoln Riley had security guards in the stands of the swim stadium in case the public tried to watch any of the football practice that was going on next door.

Now if you are a high school football coach with a five-star prospect (or three-star lineman) than you can walk on the practice field and watch with no problem.

  • USC incoming freshman Jazzy Davidson will play in the Nike Hoop Summit today at 4:30 PT on USA Network.
  • The Wooden Award held its award ceremony last night. JuJu Watkins did not attend but sent a video acceptance.

    1. I’ve been following the Comey thing since his failure to recommend Hillary for prosecution …….he has been very carefully constructing an “irrational good faith” defense. Best defense in the law [and it’s available to that demon Fauci too]. All you need to say is “I continued to trust the people around me to do the right thing…. even when it became apparent to everybody else they weren’t doing that. I guess I’m just real stupid.” With that, you’ve nullified the “intent” element necessary to prove the crime.

A great senior District Attorney told me this about corruption cases, “Without a taped admission saying words like “I know what I’m doing is in bad faith but I’m doing it anyway” you’ll almost never get a jury to convict a high ranking official. Juries tend to buy the “I know this looks bad but I didn’t intend to do anything criminal” defense.” Why? Juries are weak.

      4. And a lot of government employees serve on juries MG. They have no problem getting the time off. It is very hard to fire these people even if they are lousy employees who are lazy, incompetent, dishonest, ect. They grow up in a culture where people are not held to a standard and that bleeds into how they evaluate cases. “Well, the judge’s daughter was given a “no show” job that paid $250,000 per year and the judge knew about it but I’m not sure if that influenced his decision.”
