USC Hires Strength Coach

USC has hired Trumain Carroll of Kansas State as its new strength coach or “director of football sports performance.”

Carroll was hired after Derek Owings of Indiana turned down the job last week.

Here is Carroll’s background:

2006-08, Oklahoma State (assistant strength and conditioning coach)
2008-11, Missouri-Kansas City (director of strength and conditioning)
2011-12, South Carolina State (head strength and conditioning coach)
2013-14, Oklahoma State (assistant strength and conditioning coach)
2015-17, SMU (director of strength and conditioning)
2018-19, Arkansas (director of strength and conditioning)
2020, South Florida (director of strength and conditioning) 2021-2025, Kansas State (director of strength and conditioning)

    Why was Ownings fired? Is there any difference between strength coaches? They both will create a program for each invidiual and they will have the same things, bench press, pushups, curls, leg pressess, squatting, etc. The kids can fake weight lifting. The proof is on the field. We will see.

    2. Yes there is a difference. Some just want the players to bulk up, others have them lift for football situations, do yoga, attention to diet, resting the body, etc

  4. Still haven’t heard a convincing statement as to why Wylie was terminated. His players were getting bigger and stronger and he was well liked and respected by them. Nothing in Carrol’s resume suggests that he is a clear upgrade over Wiley. My guess is that Bowden and his team didn’t like him. Perhaps he was not an elite recruiter and a strength and condition coach is an asset in recruiting. Or, maybe a personality conflict.

  10. KAM: President Trump on Thursday announced his first trade deal over tariffs and reciprocal trade with the United Kingdom.  

    “With this deal, the UK joins the United States in affirming that reciprocity and fairness is an essential and vital principle of international trade,” Trump said while announcing the agreement.

    “In addition, the UK will reduce or eliminate numerous non-tariff barriers that unfairly discriminated against American products.“

    UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, who joined the ceremony via phone, stated, “With this President and this Prime Minister, we’ve managed to achieve what many people have tried to achieve for many years, and I’m really pleased.”
