USC Morning Buzz: Amazing What Happens When You Act Human

Amazing what happens when you act like an actual human being, it gets results. USC is doing better with Mater Dei, as four-star linebacker/defensive end Shaun Scott committed Sunday.

Don’t let anyone rewrite history by saying this is Chad Bowden’s work, which some people/fan boys want to do on every commitment these days. Lincoln Riley made a point of ignoring Mater Dei but he finally relented and met Coach Raul Lara for the first time last November. This was partly because some assistant coaches had pushed him to restart a relationship with Mater Dei.

Lara even attended a spring practice last month.

USC is finally getting Mater Dei recruits again. It’s unforgiveable Riley ignored the school for many months and we might never know what caused the communication breakown. Probably the fact the school is in Santa Ana and not Georgia was reason No. 1.

  • Speaking of Bowden, the media savvy USC general manager. How many more days will you be on the job where you have discussed the toilet paper the player use but not discuss whether USC should continue its series with Notre Dame? We aren’t going to forget about it.
  • Speaking of amazing, USC made sure to put its constant social media motto “The place to be” when it announced the women’s water polo team beat UCLA without actually ever putting the score of the game. What’s a score anyways compared to a slogan?

    1. A species in decline and we are based on our birth rates. Remember when the academics told us that the world could not feed and house any more people and women needed to delay marriage, use birth control, and limit the number of children to 1 or 2. What nonsense. Right up there with global warming being an existential threat.

  2. Riley recruited Raleek Brown while at Oklahoma and then flipped him to USC. Same with C.J. Williams. Both were high 4 stars. Neither worked out. I think Riley is not as impressed with Mater Dei players as other coaches although he will recruit some of them . He seems to like the Texas, Florida and Georgia kids more than California but Cohen and Bowden have turned him around.

  3. KAM: Remember last week when caring Democrats Trans Bruin and Cowardly Gabby told us there no ships coming to California harbors? The only problem is that there actually are – checks Bloomberg – exactly 53 ships headed for California’s top ports, more than there were on this day one year ago.

DON: Why are Democrat stooges Trans Bruin and Cowardly Gabby such shameless liars?

    1. “It’s insane that Trump is blocking resources to help make sure kids in rural school districts can get online all because he doesn’t like the word ‘equity,’” Murray, who originally sponsored this law, said in her statement. “My Republican colleagues will need to explain to their constituents why the rural schools they represent won’t get this funding for hotspots or laptops in the meantime.”

The irony here is that lack of digital access is a good example of a serious inequity (there’s that “woke” word again!) that impacts both low-income minorities and low-income rural whites similarly. This lack of access constitutes an unfairness embedded in the nation’s patchwork infrastructure, something the federal government is well-positioned to try to rectify across racial lines. So it’s degenerate nonsense for Trump to pluck out the tiny fraction of this effort aimed at minorities and cast it as racism against white people.

      MILLIONS REGRET VOTING FOR HIM!

      1. KAM: In a stinging rebuke to Cowardly Gabby The Liar’s Talking Points, in May 2025, President Donald Trump’s approval among likely voters reached 50%, according to a Rasmussen Reports poll conducted between April 27 and May 1.

This figure, shared in a series of posts on X, reflects strong support in a political climate where Trump, now in his second term, has solidified his influence following a 2024 electoral victory that granted him a strong mandate with Republican control of both chambers of Congress.

  4. KAM: Why Has Senile Joe Biden’s $42 Billion Broadband Program Not Connected One Single Household? No Telecommunication company wants to get mired in the Democrat’s red tape and inane and expensive social justice requirements. Meanwhile the private sector is delivering. “Nearly 88 percent of households already live where at least two competitors offer 25/3 Mbps service, and 85 percent lived where at least one operator offers 100/20 Mbps service and a competitor offers 25/3 Mbps service,” Reason‘s Ronald Bailey observed. “On current trends, the [group] projects that 95 percent will have access to at least 100/20 Mbps service by 2025.”
