USC Loses 5-Star Recruit Thanks To Foolish Policy

USC has lost five-star linebacker Xavier Griffin, the top-rated recruit in its vaunted recruiting class.

Why did he decommit? Because USC apparently has a no-visit policy and Griffin has lined up visits to Ohio State, Alabama, Texas and Florida State.

This sounds like the gung-ho policy of general manager Chad Bowden. We only want recruits who want to come to USC!

But in this day and age, how realistic is it to prevent visits?

Pete Carroll used to encourage recruits to visit other schools, believing they would still choose USC. But the current brain trust knows better.

And where is Griffin from by the way? Georgia!

    1. If they continue with this policy, they are going to lose a bunch of recruits. Perhaps, “I’m committed to USC but I have not shut down my recruitment and will visit Texas and Ohio State and will make my final decision on July 4th.” Of course, that is not really a commitment but recruits have an incentive to stick by their commitments. They don’t want to be labelled a flake or diva. It could eventually hurt their draft status. No GM wants to draft Bear Alexander.

  1. KAM: The Democrat city council of Providence, Rhode Island, is hosting a flag raising ceremony at the City Hall. What flag, you ask?

    A Palestinian flag…

DON: Providence, RI has been conquered.

  2. If you commit, you shouldn’t be taking more visits. Complete all your visits and then make a commitment to a school. That being said, I think USC’s position should be that “we are no longer saving a space for you in the class but give us a call after your visits and tell us where your at because we still want you.”

    1. No Gabby. But it is not likely to occur today given the expanded rosters and players leaving through the portal. Just take 37 or 38 instead of 35 and tell the 3 stars they will get a great education but no payola or NIL money.

    1. MSM and the people who were dumb enough to fall for their con job have a lot of blood on their hands. I know how much it makes Gabriela cry to read those words, after seeing her childishly try to make the same claim about Trump voters. But I don’t care.

DON: This is one of the reasons why it’s laugh-out-loud funny when liberals in the media and their stooges like Cowardly Gabby try to push the false narrative that Trump supporters regret their vote for Trump. Unlike Democrats, Trump supporters are very optimistic about the future right now. For the first time in a long time, most people on the right are excited about what’s to come next.

DON: For a gov’t hooked on deficits, this is a rare fiscal win—driven by new trade policy.

DON: Classic communism. See the farmer’s wealth, covet it, rob the farmers, realize it’s hard work, give up, then starve.

  8. KAM: The question Democrats won’t answer. If President Trump were this existential threat and our democracy hung in the balance with the 2024 election, why did the party and its leaders continue to back such an unpopular sitting president most of the country thought should not have run in the first place? What does it say about a party if it knew ahead of time the consequences of a Trump election yet backed candidates who were almost predetermined to lose? Why, in the face of such peril, would no leader stand up earlier and ask, “Are we sure we are putting our best foot forward?”

DON: The answer is simple but comes in two parts: 1. I was never an existential threat. 2. Having a meat puppet in the Oval Office suited Democrats just fine, each one figuring they could get whatever they wanted from the autopen.
