  1. They should go 10-2 with the schedule they have. Should be competitive with any team outside the top 15, but inside the top 10 will be problematic.

    1. Sort of agree 67: It depends on whether Gentry can stay healthy and whether Jayden Maiava can develop into a thinking quarterback. He has the talent but frequently makes poor decisions. If those two things happen, put your money on 66 to 1.

    2. So we gotta beat at least one top 15 team —-Notre Dame, Michigan or Oregon —to get to 10-2…..

[It’d sure be awful nice to take 2 outta 3 of those games — even if we lose a second game to, say, somebody like Illinois]…..

      1. I’m thinking Pete would take of those 3, and then lose to a nobody program, as he did sometimes back in the day. But still 10-2.

      2. I honestly think every single Trojan in Trojan land would be ecstatic if we beat Oregon, Michigan and Notre Dame…and lost to Illinois and Nebraska…..

  2. Scooter,

Riley will never win a national championship at SC. He is too soft and has no killer instinct. he runs the same play over and over and over and over and over and over again, just like Kiffin. SC will have a god defense though.

    1. PT: I think USC will have a good defense if Gentry stays healthy but I don’t think they will have a God defense. What would a God defense look like? I bet nobody would score on God unless he wanted them to.

      1. Plow,

they should be better since they have a year’s of experience now. But not as good as the 70’s defenses. but it is not fair to compare the 70’s defenses to today’s defenses due to how much the ball is being thrown around and that RPO. But defenses find a way to slow down the offense. Then the offense will find another way to move the ball and the defense will have to find a way to stop it.

  3. Illinois and Nebraska are way behind SC in these ratings. Does this mean the Trojans will beat them?

The optimists keep pegging SC at 10-2 with presumably the 2 losses coming at Oregon and ND

    1. I hope for Sark’s sake he is up to the pressure of being pre-season number one. IMO he made a really bad play call at the goal line against OSU, running wide on second and goal from the one yard line.

      1. I think Texas is the most talented team but I don’t trust Sark in the big games. Hell, he almost lost to ASU after dominating them in the first half.

  4. I believe they can go 10-2 if these 5 things happen 1. Defense plays stout on all 3 levels. 2. QB improves in the pocket and let’s his footwork become a strength. 3. LR makes in game decisions that doesn’t hurt either side of the ball. 4. Injuries to key players must be minimal at best. 5. Play on hard on both sides of the ball and physical no matter what the score. Most teams win the majority of games when they control the clock and LOS remember that LR

    Liked by 2 people

    1. If they do those 5 things Eric they may be better than 10-2. I think the schedule sets up nicely for USC this year. They should be 4-0 when they play Illinois and Illinois is beatable. They are not more talented than USC. They won a lot of close games but their statistics are not impressive. Play Michigan at home next after a bye week and Michigan doesn’t have an experienced quarterback. Another winnable game. Should be 6-0 at that point and highly ranked. Oregon and ND are the only two teams with a talent advantage and neither one has an experienced quarterback. Both are beatable.

      2. KAM: Chat GTP says:

As the USC Trojans head into the 2025 football season, several weaknesses and challenges have been identified that could impact their performance:

        1. Quarterback Situation

The departure of quarterback Miller Moss, who transferred to Louisville after a promising season, leaves USC with uncertainty at the quarterback position. While there are hopes for the development of backup quarterbacks and potential transfers, the lack of a proven starter could hinder the team’s offensive consistency.

        2. Defensive Improvements Still Needed

Despite hiring D’Anton Lynn as the new defensive coordinator, there are lingering concerns about the defense’s effectiveness. Although there have been strategic additions from the transfer portal aimed at bolstering the front seven, the defense has historically struggled under previous coaching regimes. The transition to a more physical style of play will take time to implement fully.

        3. Inconsistent Coaching Performance

Head coach Lincoln Riley has faced scrutiny for his performance over the past two seasons, which have been viewed as below average compared to expectations. The pressure is on him to turn things around, and any missteps could lead to further criticism and instability within the program.

        4. Financial Constraints

USC’s athletic department is dealing with significant financial challenges, including a reported deficit exceeding $200 million. This situation may limit the resources available for recruiting and program development, potentially affecting the team’s competitiveness.

        5. Recruiting and Depth Issues

While USC has made strides in recruiting, particularly with a strong 2026 class, the immediate depth and talent available for the 2025 season may not be sufficient to compete at the highest levels. The reliance on incoming talent to fill gaps could lead to growing pains as new players adjust to the college game. Conclusion

Overall, while there are areas of potential improvement, the USC Trojans face significant challenges in 2025 that could impact their success on the field. The quarterback situation, defensive consistency, coaching performance, financial constraints, and depth issues will all play crucial roles in determining the team’s trajectory this season.

DON: And cornerback and OL weakness.

Last month Anthony Bernal defied congress on his testimony on Senile Joe Biden’s cognitive decline so House Oversight Chairman Comer promptly issued a subpoena to compel testimony.

Anthony Bernal was Jill Biden’s ‘work husband’ and wielded tremendous power.

DON: Undercover video showed DNC Vice Chair David Hogg admitting Anthony Bernal was running the Senile Joe Biden White House.

“How corrupt is the DNC if so many knew or few people knew about Biden?” a Project Veritas undercover reporter asked Hogg.

Hogg replied, “The bigger issue was like the inner circle that was around Biden… like Jill Biden’s Chief of Staff [Anthony Bernal] had an enormous amount of power.”

Deterrian Jones, former White House Office of Digital Strategy chimed in, “That was an open secret. I would avoid him. He was scary.”

      3. In California there are much worse things than gerrymandering. The Dems made ballot harvesting legal. If you are registered for any government service, such as a driver’s license or government benefits like SNAP, you are automatically given a voter registration form in the mail. Illegals are given driver’s licenses. It is illegal to ask for photo IDs at the polling places. And the voting declaration just says you are a California resident, without mentioning a U.S. citizenship requirement. All of this designed to encourage illegals to vote.
