USC Hires Former UCLA Assistant Coach

In an odd move, USC has hired Adrian Klemm as a defensive analyst despite the fact he has been an offensive line coach his entire career.

Klemm is one of those coaches who seemed to be keep moving upward, going from UCLA to the Pittsburgh Steelers to Oregon and finally in 2023, the New England Patriots.

But he didn’t coach last season and was not hired by anyone for 2025 until USC brought him in as a defensive analyst.

  • As predicted, Lincoln Riley said today he was “really impressed” with the conditioning level of the Trojans and said there was improved discipline with the team thanks to new strength coach Trumain Carroll.

Naturally, no one pointed out this was an indictment of Riley since his preferred strength coach since 2018 was dismissed by Chad Bowden.

  • Riley said safety Kennedy Urlacher, cornerback Chasen Johnson and linebacker Eric Gentry were standouts the first day of practice.

KAM: Adrian Klemm, the former UCLA offensive line coach, was investigated by the NCAA for violating ethical conduct rules by paying for training and housing for two recruits, which led to a $5,000 fine and a two-year show-cause penalty. He admitted to the violations, stating he was unaware they breached NCAA regulations…. per ESPN.

      DON: Why would Riley Coyote hire this guy?

    DON: Translation: We didn’t think anyone would look into this, but since everyone did, we’re hiring a law firm to cleverly craft a smokescreen to make this whole thing suddenly seem legit and hopefully go away.
