Saturday Buzz: USC Defense Will Be Stellar Today

USC’s passing defense will have its best Saturday of the season today. Guaranteed.

It will be a nice change of pace to see the defense dominate Bye U. today.

  • Lincoln Riley was at the Mater Dei-Orange Lutheran game Friday night. Assistant coaches Dennis Simmons and Trovon Reed were at Sierra Canyon-Serra. Reed is USC’s cornerbacks coach so I’ll need to write about him next week.
  • Tyran Stokes, the No. 1-ranked basketball player in the nation from Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, has USC among his four finalists with Kentucky, Kansas and Oregon. But I hear Kentucky and Kansas are the frontrunner.
  • This was an ad in the Daily Bruin student newspaper on Friday.

  1. KAM: UCLA should go the UCSB route, cut their losses and shut down their pathetic football “program”.

DON: They can be the Georgetown of the West….basketball only.

      1. KAM: Affirmative Action Athletic Director hire Dan Guerrero destroyed the UCLA fan base in 2015 when he quadrupled the price of season tickets and tens of thousands of loyal Bruin alumni gave up their season tickets. Now they have to offer free tickets to high school students or the place would be empty!

DON: And once you sour you never sweeten. None of those UCLA alums will be coming back. They must go the UCSB route and cut their losses due to the incompetent rule of DEI poster children Chianti Dan and Martin Jarmond:https://www.sportingnews.com/us/ncaa-football/news/ucla-ad-faces-harsh-spotlight-amid-bruins-football-collapse/a7d3a8c5e303033dfa3a7b74lol

  4. So SC spends millions on a midget basketball coach with a very checkered past when it comes to his temper. He’s really not recruited very well, his one top recruit almost killed himself in an auto accident then blew out his knee and will never play at SC. Missed on the local kid yesterday, will probably miss on this local kid, tell me again why was he hired ?

  6. KAM: Former USC Star QB Mark Sanchez Stabbed, In Critical Condition!

Former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez was stabbed early Saturday morning in downtown Indianapolis and is currently hospitalized in stable condition, Fox Sports confirmed.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers responded to a “disturbance in an alley” call around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, reporting one person had been stabbed and another was injured outside a pub near West Washington Street and North Senate Avenue, WTHR reports.

The suspect has been detained, the outlet says.

“Mark Sanchez was injured in Indianapolis on Saturday and is currently recovering in the hospital in stable condition,” Fox Sports said in a social media statement on Saturday afternoon. “We are deeply grateful to the medical team for their exceptional care and support. Our thoughts and prayers are with Mark, and we ask that everyone please respect his and his family’s privacy during this time.”

DON: Sanchez, 38, was promptly transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition. He was reportedly in Indianapolis for his role as a broadcaster with Fox Sports, where he was scheduled to call Sunday’s Colts vs. Raiders game at Lucas Oil Stadium.

  7. KAM: Governor Mimbo’s $20 Min. Wage Has Now Nuked 20,000 Fast Food Jobs, Cost Remaining Workers Thousands in Lost Hours. Democratic California Gov. Mimbo promised just short of utopia when he signed California’s FAST Recovery Act.

Two years later, the only thing raising the state’s minimum wage law for fast-food workers has accomplished is to kill jobs.

The Employment Policies Institute found California has lost nearly 20,000 fast-food jobs since Newsom’s law took effect.

That’s one-quarter of all fast-food job losses nationwide.

This is what happens when Mainstream Moderate Democrat politicians prioritize virtue signaling over economic reality.

Pizza Hut franchises laid off 1,200 delivery drivers to cut costs. Other chains like Mod Pizza and Foster’s Freeze closed their doors.

Newsom’s mandate didn’t protect workers; it priced people out of jobs.

“Newsom’s $20 wage has turned out to be nothing more than a boost to his own ego at the expense of fast food workers,” EPI’s Rebekah Paxton told the Washington Examiner.

The governor celebrated the law for its supposed benefits at the time.

Now, every lost job represents a family harmed by his state’s economic illiteracy.

And even the “lucky” employees who kept their jobs are losing.

EPI said restaurant workers lost 250 hours annually, or $4,000 under the old wage.

That’s the cruel irony. Governor Mimbo promised “living wages,” but workers ended up with fewer hours and less income.

The American Cornerstone Institute warned that the law punishes small businesses the hardest.

They can’t absorb higher labor costs like multinational corporations. Instead, they fold, handing even more market share to the biggest players.

The ACI said: “Unlike their multinational competitors, small businesses have a tougher time absorbing the increased costs of labor, leading to further consolidation of capital in the hands of the largest corporations. In the same manner, a state-wide minimum wage doesn’t make sense when applied uniformly across a state as big as California.”

“The costs of living in somewhere like San Francisco, for example, are much higher than in the rural parts of the state, where one can live much more affordably. To force the businesses in both areas to adhere to the same wage rates does not make sense and exerts profound distortions on local economies.”

    This wasn’t about helping workers.

This law was about central planning, photo ops, and Governor Mimbo’s ambition.

Conservatives warned that this would happen, and we were right.

Sadly, an “I told you so” won’t bring back jobs to the people who paid for another failed California experiment.

DON: Mainstream Moderate Democrats don’t care how many poor workers and small businesses they destroy.https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/3831205/california-fast-food-wage-law-backfires/
