So UCLA interim coach Tim Skipper beat a top 10 team yesterday at the Rose Bowl in his second game as coach.
Our hero, Lincoln Riley, is 0-3 against top 10 teams at USC.
Now before someone says, “Yeah, but Skipper only beat James Franklin” let’s remember that one of Riley’s three losses to top 10 teams was last season at the Coliseum to . . . No. 4-ranked Penn State.
Should USC fans start worrying about the UCLA game now?

I’ve read the report. P. T. called Mark’s mother several bad names and made fun of USC’s defensive backs…and even our defensive coordinator. Mark had to defend everybody’s honor. The guy gave him no choice…

KAM:Jordan Peterson describes Cowardly Gabby perfectly! Peterson mentions that his tested IQ from years ago is about 150. That fits with my hunch based on knowing some really bright people. He has a level of intelligence we rarely meet, which is why hostile interviewers come to grief.
That same experienced-based hunch tells me that Cowardly Gabby’s IQ cannot be higher than the mid-80s. Telling the difference between 90 and 110 isn’t that easy. Social skills, education and what is being discussed cloud the differences. Only when someone has to learn something new does that show up. Someone with an IQ of 110 will learn easily. Someone with an IQ of 90 will struggle but eventually learn.
DON: But once someone’s IQ drops into the 80s, that becomes obvious. They’re simply incapable of seeing what is obvious to most people. Cowardly Gabby copes with situations that are beyond her ability by quoting liberal shibboleths.

Exactly, MG! They love to deny all the blood on their hands.
But oh, when there’s a mass shooting, they suddenly care about lives. The sum of all mass shooting victims is a small fraction of the number of lives loss, as a result of their decision to go with dementia, incompetence & weakness in 2020. They like to pretend that the timing of those conflicts were merely coincidences. LOL

According to the latest Steele Power Ratings Michigan has the best defense in the Big Ten…and USC has the third best offense. It’s make it or break it time on October 11th.
Michigan is Ranked #15 in the country with well over 600 votes —a USC win will look real good.

Coach Riley actually works well with his QB’s — we all recall him calming Caleb down in the Oregon State game…. and getting him focused for the final drive…and he did the same for Jayden twice this year. He knows that position. He knows what it takes. All of which makes his lack of connection to everything else on the field the more infuriating.
A statement Lincoln made last Monday demonstrates his biggest failing: “We don’t need to get pumped up for games, we need to practice hard and execute on the field.” He’s mostly right, of course. But the GREAT coaches know how to get their teams prepared …AND…. jacked up.

They will have had the bye week to recover and to think about getting embarrassed by an Illinois team that is borderline top 20. I hope they respond the way Illinois responded to USC.
I’m assuming we should be able to put up 24. Hope that is enough. It should be, particularly if the D can spook Michigan’s true frosh QB.
No pass rush last week and Lynn didn’t make adjustments to fix that in the second half. Seems paramount to pressure the QB this week. Michigan’s coaches are allowing him only to make what seem to be sure throws. Let’s see what happens when the pocket breaks down and he is sacked/hit.

This is a good time to reverse what Monte Kiffin said before Lane beat Oregon: “We just need to slow down their offense enough so that we can outscore them.” In next Saturday’s case, “we just need to slow down their rush enough so we can get passes off & score.”

USC’s offensive line is currently dealing with significant injuries, particularly with starting center Kilian O’Connor, who will miss at least the next two games due to a left knee injury. Backup center J’Onre Reed is set to fill in for O’Connor during this time, while other players like offensive tackle Elijah Paige are also managing injuries.
DON: Jayden will be running for his life.
