Michigan Notices The USC Crowd

Michigan coach Sherrone Moore noticed USC said that Saturday’s game at the Coliseum is a sell out.

“It’s sold out, but it’s sold out because Michigan’s coming,” Moore said.

Well, yes and no.

The fact Michigan is coming — with its many fans — is a big reason the game is a sell out.

But . . . Moore couldn’t possibly be aware of the weird way USC calls games a sell out. There are rows of tickets available on the secondary market because USC makes the tickets available but still considers the tickets sold (for some reason).

So is it really a sell out?

  3. A top prosecutor in Virginia is outright refusing to back down against “intense pressure from trump” to file criminal charges against New York Attorney General Letitia James. Elizabeth Yusi, who oversees major criminal prosecutions in the Norfolk office of the Eastern District of Virginia, has informed her colleagues that she plans to decline to seek charges against James.

    Yusi has been crystal clear with co-workers, confiding that she simply sees “no probable cause to believe James engaged in mortgage fraud,” according to sources familiar with her internal discussions. If you’ve been following the news, you know that this kind of resistance comes with a serious risk.

    1. KAM: Cowardly Gabby, where was this extreme legal conservatism regarding charging decisions under Senile Joe Biden? Some of the cases pursued with vigor by these career prosecutors, specifically targeting those in Trump’s orbit, were arguably weaker than the James case. That leaves Republicans rightfully feeling like this sudden bout of “independence” is just a bit too convenient. 

      We all get that the prevailing opinion of most career bureaucrats, including within the DOJ, is that the orange man is bad. But the orange man being bad should not be the deciding factor in whether another person gets away with mortgage fraud, or, in the case of Pious James Comey, lying to Congress. It certainly seems like there’s enough evidence against Letitia James to at least put the decision before a grand jury. Having a prosecutor decide on her own to shut things down is going to lead to justified skepticism about what’s really going on. 

      DON: Yusi, if she indeed declines to bring charges, won’t be long for her job. Whether one is comfortable with it or not, the second Trump administration is determined to push back against double standards within the justice system. That means seeing Democrats prosecuted in ways they so gleefully prosecuted their political opponents over the preceding decade.
