Georgia, Alabama and Oregon are teams interested in former USC defensive tackle Devan Thompkins.
Here’s what I know: If Thompkins went to Georgia, he would do better than the Georgia defensive linemen who have transferred to USC.
Of course, that’s a fairly low bar to clear.
But the two Georgia transfers (Bear Alexander, Jamaal Jarrett) were not actually starters at Georgia, unlike Thompkins at USC.
- Doesn’t every team have to re-sign players? The way some pundits will suck up to people, whether Lincoln Riley or Chad Bowden, is amazing.
Guys, listen to yesterday’s Lincoln Riley interview. He doesn’t give the slightest sh^t whether Lynn leaves or not. When you say, “Continuity is nice…but this is USC…if somebody leaves we won’t have any problem finding someone outstanding to replace him” you’re basically saying “bye, good luck.”

If D’Anton Lynn leaves USC for another coaching position, the Trojans may face challenges in maintaining their defensive performance. Eric Henderson, the co-defensive coordinator, is a likely candidate to replace him, but retaining other key defensive coaches will also be crucial for the team’s success.- Sports Illustrated
DON: Should be lots of coaches available when the NFL season ends.

I listened to the same interview MG. It sounded like Lynn is gone. So who replaces him. Pete Kwiatkowski, the former DC at Texas wants the job. I also heard that Jimmy Lake, a defensive back assistant coach with the Rams may be in play. What do these guys have in common. Both were coaches at Washington while Jen Cohen was the athletic director. They developed a lot of NFL players during the Petersen era. My guess is that Cohen wants to replace the defensive coaches with her old Washington coaches. If that happens, its another no confidence vote for Riley. Right up there with Chad Bowden. I don’t see Henderson being promoted to DC.

Soft spoken, moneygrubbing Lynn’s departure might be the best thing that ever happened to Riley.
Yes, there will be a break in “continuity” if Lynn leaves [which Riley concedes]….. but the HUGE upside is a change in coaching might very well ignite more of an ‘attack mode’ mentality within the whole the defense —staff and players.

Lynn recruited Rob Ryan to the coaching staff. Hopefully, if he goes, Lynn takes Ryan with him. We can then shift the savings in coaching salaries to hiring a new DC and linebacker coach.

So, the USC team in its bowl game will be missing Makai Lemon, Ja’Kobi Lane, Lake McCree, Walker Lyons…
Gone are two of the three starting WRs, and both TEs.
Also out (some are injured) are Jahkeem Stewart, Kamari Ramsey, Eric Gentry, Bishop Fitzgerald.
There are more, but why spoil the weekend any further.

67 — I have a feeling no one will be criticizing Riley’s RUN/pass ratio in the Alamo Bowl….

These re-signings must be extremely revealing to a player. Tompkins knows that USC just signed Winfield, a 5 star interior defensive lineman from Texas and Wafle, a 4 star edge from New Jersey. Both were given huge NIL money. He further hears that 3 other Freshman edge rushers are coming and that the team is extremely high on Cam Crawford, Jahkeem Stewart, and Floyd Bouchard and have renewed their NIL packages. He asks about his status and is told that he does not rate the kind of NIL money these other players are getting. That must be extremely demoralizing to a player that has been in the program for 4 years and was a starter. The problem with Thompkins is that he was always playing out of position. He is not an interior defensive tackle. His natural position is defensive end in a 4-3 defense but USC asked him to play inside where he was pushed around by ND and Illinois.

Try being outweighed by 50 lbs, the way Jake Paul was last night!
The result wasn’t pretty and about as foreseeable as the response the 4 year southern invasion we experienced under Joe & Kamala.

So Cal –I boxed 2 people who outweighed me by 50 pounds. I’m not strong and I don’t have a big punch but I knocked one of them down, a guy named Mike Edwards. The other was my Dad –he boxed me with his left hand only…and I literally saw lights every time he connected [it was twilight & the backyard seemed to light up like a flash of lightening every time he tapped me —glad he never followed up with a right like Joshua did to poor Paul]….

So far, it’s looking as if Tulane is making it look as if they do not belong.
Notre Dame & Texas fans all screaming, “Told you so!”

Could we have beaten those teams? Our offense likely could have moved the ball and the A&M quarterback looked pathetic.

I’ll tell ya this, Plow: I’d sure like another crack at Tulane.

btw, the A & M Quarterback’s last interception was retarded. The Miami defender didn’t come “from nowhere” —-he was standing right there in the middle of the fricking play.
