With all the ties between USC and the Seattle Seahawks, there is one that didn’t get mentioned yesterday.
Former USC player/assistant coach Kennedy Polamalu was an assistant coach with the Seahawks until taking a personal leave of absence in December. Last month, it was announced he would not be returning to the team.
No explanation was given for the leave of absence. He joined the Seahawks in 2024 after Mike Macdonald was hired as head coach.
KAM: Maybe Lane Kiffin can offer him a job.
DON: As Fight Coordinator.

Kennedy likely missed out on that $180,000 Super Bowl bonus plus a ring.

KAM: And he missed out on the Lane Kiffin Redemption Tour and current LSU job. He seems troubled.
DON: He may have chosen unwisely missing out on all those riches.

Yeah –maybe the skillset that made him such a ferocious player isn’t serving him well these days….

MG: Coaching at the college and professional level can be all consuming. I suspect this may have contributed to his need for a leave of absence for personal reasons. Sometimes the time demands and stress negatively impact relationships. I recall that Lombardi had difficulty driving home after an all nigh film session. He would parked in his neighbors driveway and try to enter his neighbor’s house at 4 a.m. John Madden was asked to sign his eldest son’s driving permit by his wife and looked perplexed, and allegedly had no idea his children had grown-up. He thought they were years younger. The profession takes its toll.
