Lincoln Riley just sprung on everyone last night that USC spring practice would begin next week.
And of course, there will be no spring game, just like last year.
So even with all the freshmen enrolled already at USC, he still won’t put together a spring game for the fans.
Should I mention that Indiana had a spring game last year and is scheduled to have one in April since everyone is focused on Curt Cignetti these days.
Here are the practice dates: March-3-4-6-7-10-11-13-24-25-27-28-31. April 1-3-4.
I would take my youngest son there every year. Kiffin was great at those events, letting kids down close to the practice field. The vibe was a great combo of energy and laid back SoCal sunshine. The crowd was often lower income people who couldn’t afford to come watch a game. They loved being there. Another great tradition that has gone by the wayside…

KAM; Riley Coyote’s legacy is destroying all tradition at USC…

Scott, if this is the second year without a spring game; then, isn’t that becoming a tradition, a new tradition. As always, the proof of his decision for a new spring tradition will be in the Fall product in real games. We had a tradition of card stunts at the games which the students no longer create…..is that because we are in a different era where selling prime seats at top dollar makes more budget sense than having 5000 students in those seats. Times change, needs change and we can’t live in the 1950’s. Please concentrate on the future instead of trying to relive your youth. I can tell you from old age experience that life constantly requires finding new current joys. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

KAM:” the proof of his decision for a new spring tradition will be in the Fall product in real games.”
DON: Going 9-4, losing to Notre Dame as usual and a humiliating 30-27 loss to TCU in the lowly Alamo Bowl is proof that Riley Coyote’s decision was wrong.

Jen Cohen is Riley’s boss. Just tell him there will be a Spring game. If Riley wants, he can mostly play the Freshman or second string players so as not to give any secrets away.

KAM: What secrets? They didn’t surprise Illinois, Notre Dame, Oregon or TCU.
DON: Riley Coyote should be smart enough to imitate what transparent #1 Indiana does. But his paranoia strikes deep.

I hate to agree with you…. but Lincoln does outthink himself in game prep and on the field coaching….he doesn’t seem to always understand the flow of the game [in law we say ‘he doesn’t have a theory of the case’]…

In all fairness to Lincoln, I bet he beats everybody [including Oregon and Ohio State] at home…..

Hope you are right about the home games MG. Those are two teams with talent that is probably superior to our own and better coaches.

….But…. due for downturns & reduced belief in themselves based on disappointing play last year….

KAM: But you are always optimistic this time of year.

If Scott were a journalist instead of an opinion writer, he could attend press conferences at USC or interview administrators and ask them directly why they do or don’t do certain things that concern him. There are always two sides to a story and good reporters know how to dig for accurate information. If Scott had a boss which I assume he doesn’t have, he would not want to be micromanaged by his boss, and a good boss would not want to micromanage employees, but rather judge them on the totality of their work. USC is paying LR eleven million a year to make decisions, and Jen inherited a stupid contract with no discernable buyout. Let’s see what happens in the Fall. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

For all his minuses [which are many] Lincoln also has lots of pluses. He’s been a bit snake-bitten [Caleb hurting himself in Pac 12 championship, losing his running backs right before the Notre Dame game] but, with some luck, he could be a hero in November 2026…..

btw, since there aren’t any really good “journalists” following USC we’re lucky to have one savvy “opinion writer” doing their jobs for them…

KAM: Reporters and opinion writers have editors.
Editors “micromanage” every story, improving the quality of the content by checking for grammar, clarity, and consistency. Having an editor allows journalists to focus more on writing while ensuring their posts are polished and professional.
DON: Riley Coyote needs an editor.

Take a knee, wolfman, i GOT this!! i can foretell the trOXans entire ’26 season here and now!! it doesn’t take an SC Brain Surgeon to figure this one out wolfman!!
8-4 with ANOTHER return to the Holiday Bowl!! might as well make hotel reservations for San Diego now to save dough!! i also predict they will try to steal Chesney after the fall of Lil’ Lord Riley’s administration!!

Scooter,
The SC programs is a joke. No spring practices to attend to and no spring game. Riley has turned this once program into a pussified piece of pile. Sorry. What happens if 50,000 season ticket holders did the same thing as the two boosters who would not renew their tickets? Things would change.

All I can say is he’d better win AND make the playoffs or he’s getting replaced by Kalen DeBored or another bum.
