As expected, four-star safety Gavin Williams from Damien High School in La Verne has committed to USC.
Williams also considered Notre Dame, UCLA and Washington. He is the No. 6 safety in the nation for the Class of 2027 according to 247.
USC now has 14 commitments for the Class of 2027. If you believe general manager Charmin Bowden, USC will take only two more commitments.
This is great news, the 2027 class, like the 2026 class is outstanding, but who knows how many ultimately will play for the Trojans…

We have landed a lot of four and five star talent the last two recruiting cycles and 2025 wasn’t bad either. Can you have too much of a good thing? All of these guys are expecting to contribute as Freshman and start as Sophomores. Al McGwire used to say that he only wanted two scorers on his basketball team. The others would pass, set picks, play great defense and rebound. What is USC going to do with 4 or 5 receivers that could start on virtually any other team and 3 more coming in with the 2027 class. Or Johnson, Williams, Graham, Lockhart, Crowder, Riordan, Reddick, Washington, Lang, Sermons, ect. in the defensive backfield. Or five really good running backs.

Solution: Petition the NCAA to allow 5 receivers, 5 running backs, 3 quarterbacks and 7 offensive linemen on the field at the same time—

I like the “outside the box” thinking by coach Guarino. Is it too early to call him an offensive genius.
