An Original Commitment Makes Decision

Wide receiver Eli Woodard of Temecula, who was originally committed to USC, committed to Miami today. He also considered Cal and UCLA.

He decommitted from USC because he wanted to take visits to other schools, which is against the policy of Chad “Charmin” Bowden.

It would have been funny if someone like Luke Wafle had tested this policy and made other visits and then called USC to say he wanted to recommit. Do you think USC would have turned him down?

  1. Well, they still have 4 top WR incoming frosh this year.

I can see why a ’27 WR recruit would want to go elsewhere. Opens up another scholly for a big ugly.

    1. KAM: “Commitments” is an archaic term for the pre-transfer portal/mercenary era.

DON: “Bids” is a more accurate term… who did USC outbid?

  2. Do you think USC would have turned down Luke Wafle if he violated the “no visits” policy? Yes. I recall that a 5 star linebacker, Griffin, wanted to visit other schools after committing to USC and they flatly told him if he did that his scholarship would be revoked and they followed through on it.

    1. KAM: Xavier Griffin is a five-star linebacker who initially committed to the USC Trojans but later decommitted and signed with the Alabama Crimson Tide for the 2026 season.

DON: Smooth move, Riley Coyote. You really showed him!

  3. KAM: –So some SC football recruit “signs” on with SC but then visits other schools against SC policy, and the Trojans then revoke his scholarship

DON: SC’s general manager ‘Bowdown’ has his fingerprints all over that policy. Did ‘Carrot have that policy– Pete would say, “Check out the world and we will welcome you back

  5. KAM: Can you blame these college football players from wanting to make money? Doesn’t everybody like making money?

DON: 90% of college players won’t be good enough for the NFL, so they are looking at a 4-year college career when they can cash in. For most of them this will be the best money they ever make

KAM: Paying the college kids didn’t seem to dampen their fans’ feverish enthusiasm. But it still sounds strange when fans say something like “LSU pays the best”

DON: It’s going to work out. I’ll just dangle Iran’s ‘assets before them as my weapon until I get a nuclear agreement out of them
