USC Saturday Buzz: A Few More Game Day Experiences To Recount

A couple other things to add to my list of the pitfalls of attending a college football game.

The wireless is extremely spotty when there is a large crowd like last weekend.

You can pay USC to reserve a spot to tailback on campus before games. But the university sends people around the campus to make sure you are using the spot. If you don’t use the spot, or went to the bathroom when the tailgate monitors stop by, USC will fine you.

The number of walking paths from campus to the Coliseum is limited, which causes bottlenecks.

  • Women’s soccer head coach Jane Alukonis has been fired. The soccer team has been awful the past two seasons with a 9-17-13 record, including just two wins this season.

  2. things getting nasty on wolfman’s blog today, probably the result of trOJies watching Gutty Bruins dominate tough Gophers on their own field!! Maybe now we’ll see some respect from the voters given all the pundits thought we’d fall to the game Gophers team at home.

    1. CB-The Bruins have already earned respect on the field … getting it from voters? IU’s Coach Cignetti statement this week about the rigged playoff system just further cements what everyone knows – unless you go undefeated, the SEC/ESPN will find some excuse to elevate a 3 loss team over you … so don’t pull a ’98 (except of course this time it would be against USC, so please feel free to do so!) …

  3. Crowd control is important for any big event as is security. As for the women’s soccer coach, maybe it is time for her to go. The drop off in success could be attributed to a lot of shortcomings. We have two national championships and a great recruiting area so success should be more than just mediocre. Check out the top programs like UNC, Duke and Northwestern and get someone with a track record of success. Thanks Scott. Fight on, Dan, Class of 1962

  4. KAM: In UCLA’s 34–20 victory over Minnesota this morning , Ty Dieffenbach finished with a spectacular NCAA passer rating of 258.5.

DON: His highly explosive stat line from the game included:

    • Completions/Attempts: 8/16
    • Passing Yards: 303 yards (a massive 18.9 yards per attempt average, fueled by two consecutive 75-yard touchdown bombs to Aidan Mizell in the fourth quarter)
    • Touchdowns: 3
    • Interceptions: 1

  5. KAM: Don’t look now, but USC-Killer Utah is #3 with a bullet after they shocked in-state rival #9 BYU 28-20 this morning.

DON: Imagine a rematch in the playoffs between USC and the Utes!
