USC Saturday Buzz: A Not-So Special Event

Yesterday I mentioned that no “special event” had been announced for former players during spring practice, which was promised when the spring game was canceled.

Well lo and behold, USC suddenly announced that former players are invited to football practice on April 12.

“A practice is the special event?, ” a former player said. “So special.  Attending ANY practice was something usually encouraged (pre-Riley) with a “welcome anytime” message to former players. They didn’t say anything about meeting the coaches either, of course. It’s definitely not a special event.”

  • The Festival of Books is this weekend at USC. I would usually warn the public about the parking problems posed by the book festival, but the public is not allowed to spring practices and even the media cannot attend any part of the Saturday practices in the spring.

  1. No spring game is a shame. As So Cal (I believe) noted, it gives a chance for fans who would struggle to pay for a regular season game a chance to watch their team in person.
