Former USC defensive tackles De’Jon Benton and Jamar Sekona are expected to start at Hawaii this season.
- College baseball teams are allowed to offer 34 scholarships this season, a huge increase over the long-time number of 11.7. But how many does USC intend to actually offer given its lackluster commitment to the sport?
Key players have transferred out because of a lack of commitment, whether it’s the failure to complete the baseball stadium by next season or unimpressive NIL opportunities.
- Now here is what takes for some USC fans to cope: They just pretend the past 2 seasons never happened!
https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.jsThis to me feels like the “real” second year of Lincoln Riley with USC. First year was transfer portal bananza (did pretty well than expected). Second year they tried to capitalize on transfer portal and fell flat.

KAM: UCLA faced a lawsuit from Jewish students and a professor who claimed the university allowed antisemitic discrimination during pro-Palestinian protests, resulting in a settlement of nearly $6.5 million. The lawsuit alleged that the university failed to protect Jewish students from harassment and created a hostile environment on campus.https://x.com/intent/post?text=Federal%20government%20cuts%20UCLA%20research%20funding%20over%20antisemitism%20claims&via=nbcnews&url=https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/ucla-says-losing-federal-research-funding-rcna222415&original_referer=https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/ucla-says-losing-federal-research-funding-rcna222415&cid=%5Bobject%20Object%5D_twitterlol

KAM: 60 universities in the US are currently being or have been the subject of federal scrutiny for violating the 1964 Civil Rights Act. 60!!! USC, Stanford, Yale, Harvard, Columbia, Cornell, Princeton, Brown, Northwestern, UCLA… https://san.com/cc/here-are-the-60-universities-under-investigation-by-the-trump-administration/Nearly 1/3 of all 187 major research institutions, (plus a handful of elite liberal-arts colleges) have active Title VI files, and a dozen have seen sweeping grant freezes.
This includes both claims of antisemitic-harassment (shared-ancestry discrimination) sparked by Gaza-war protests, and admissions-bias claims after the Supreme Court struck down race-based admissions. Some, like Harvard, of them have been in egregious, ‘violent violation’ of Title VI. Many more are on the rungs of the enforcement ladder at various levels, including UC Berkeley and even Chicago.
Once they have escalated up the ladder far enough, the administration’s policy is to pause grants. The administration is using the Uniform Guidance “program-goals” clause (2 C.F.R. § 200.340) to freeze first, litigate later, leap-frogging Title VI’s slower termination procedure.
Columbia’s deal is now the administration’s template. They paid a $200 million fine and agreed to major internal policy changes– and grants have been restored.
DON: Every major school at the enforcement run is being offered roughly the same bargain. Under the Office for Civil Rights’ rules, a university can short-circuit a Title VI investigation by agreeing, on its own initiative, to adopt a negotiated action plan. No formal violation is found, no grants are frozen, and the school lands in long-term monitoring instead of enforcement. Several schools have jumped in early with “voluntary-resolution agreements” (VRAs) , such as Brown, GW, Drexel, Temple, and U Cincinnati. Will USC pay up for Carol Folt’s sins?

Some columnist is saying Wiley should win 10 games, but that prediction will remain on hold until 2026

Unfortunately next year’s schedule is a bear…if there was a year to win 10, this would be the one.
2026 – Ohio St, Penn State, Domers, Oregon, Indiana, Wisconsin – and no Missouri State on the dance card.

Ohio State will always be tough. But I think Oregon will start to fall off now that other programs can compete with them in buying players. And I don’t think Franklin is a great coach and Indiana and Wisconsin may stumble badly. If not, we are in for a tough season.

Trojan Football is correct. Scott should have shown the entire post.
“Last year was the first year with new defensive coordinator and defensive staff, suffered a bit of growing pains on offense, defense vastly improved and is getting better. But prioritized recruiting. Building the foundation from strong recruiting classes—USC will continue to excel— growing every year from here on out. I see a 10 win season, MINIMUM this year.”
The future looks bright. In two years we may have the best defense in college football. And in two or three years we should have the offensive line that will allow us to pound the ball.

KAM: That sounds like Washington State.
DON: What made the McKay/Robinson and Carroll era teams great were the second and third stringers who would step up when a starter went down. By the 5th game the injuries take their toll and phony 4-0 teams are exposed as frauds.

100%! Whereas true national title contenders lose a running back or even a quarterback in the first half and find a way to come roaring back in the second half with a tested & talented vet….everybody knows if we lose a starter this year we’re betting the farm on an untested freshman…..

Good news in that Longstreet seems to have run a 4.7, and here are his 2024 stats:
2024: Played 9 games as a senior, throwing for 1,641 yards, 19 TDs, and 4 INTs on 109-for-165 passing (.661). Ran for 494 yards and 6 TDs on 9.0 yards per carry.
He also has NFL-level arm strength, can throw close to 80 yards.

67 — I hear ya. Nice stuff. Let me just say this: probably the only thing I know about football is how to throw the ball…. I see those long balls Longstreet throws and I hate how much air is beneath them …and I don’t like the way he raises his foot after throws…. I think he’ll wind up being good…. but never Caleb Williams good….

Caleb is once in a generation. The defense, by giving up 50 points per game to the opposition was too much to overcome. We wasted his talent.
I like the look of young Longstreet! He seems to have much quicker feet than Maiava.
