I predicted former Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville fully endorsed the school’s ridiculous claiming of the 2004 national title yesterday and here was his first comment:
“I want to congratulate the 2004 Auburn Tigers football team on being recognized as the true national champions of college football of 2004,” Tuberville said. “There is no doubt that the 2004 Auburn team was the best team in the country for the entire season.”
Memo to Tuberville: Auburn finished No. 3 in six different computer polls (not even No. 2). And it was third in the two top 25 polls. How does he explain that?

- If this isn’t enough, watch these two sycophants applaud Tuberville over the “claiming” of the national title. All three of these people have no shame.

Tuberville before the USC-Oklahoma Orange Bowl from an ESPN article:
MIAMI — He is a martyr, an undefeated coach, and above all else, Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville is a seer. Tuberville made his case for the Tigers’ national championship hopes in an informal press conference, and when it broke up, he stuck around for a few extra minutes.
“It’ll be over before the half,” Tuberville said. “You give Norm Chow a month to get ready for somebody … “

Wonder if Tuberville had a bonus clause in his contract for a Nati! I’d be smiling today, too.

DON: Oh well, before there was a Playoffs, every year there were 2 or 3 teams that could have rightfully claimed the National Championship notwithstanding the ‘vote’
KAM: –And like with the old Bowl System, half the teams would end the season with a victory and have an argument for being the Champ

One thing overlooked about Tuberville’s Auburn teams was that they lost to USC in 2002 and 2003.
Hard to give Tuberville any credit when he never beat Pete Carroll.
