Morning Buzz: USC Plays Part In Massive Chain Reaction

Should Arkansas and Kentucky send USC athletic director Jen Cohen a thank-you letter? Arkansas is expected to hire John Calipari to replace Eric Musselman and doesn’t have to pay anything for a buyout. Kentucky gets rid of Calipari for free. If it fired Calipari, it owed him $32 million. Have USC fans thanked SMU enough for hiring Andy Enfield? That got the ball rolling. Let’s … Continue reading Morning Buzz: USC Plays Part In Massive Chain Reaction

There’s Always A USC Connection

There’s always USC connections to everything. Today is James Garner’s birthday. Since the Rockford Files is one of my favorite shows, let’s check out some Garner-USC connections. (Garner’s daughter, Gigi, just sent me a tweet that she went to USC. Another connection!) Here is Garner at USC during filming of an episode (The Prisoner of Rosemont Hall) at USC in 1977. Here’s Garner (Jim Rockford) … Continue reading There’s Always A USC Connection

Sunday Buzz: USC Gets Tailback Commitment

Three-star tailback Harry Dalton of Dinwiddie, Va., committed to USC today. He is the second tailback to commit to USC for the Class of 2025, joining three-star Riley Wormley of Southlake, Texas. That will put more pressure on the Bulldogs to try and flip the commitment of … Continue reading Sunday Buzz: USC Gets Tailback Commitment

This Doesn’t Sound Like A Humbled Coach

This might be a quote to remember from Lincoln Riley today on USC’s move to the Big Ten. “I feel like sometimes it gets made out in the media that the Big Ten is like, some wildly different deal. Like, it’s football, so a couple of teams play with one more tight end. Like, big deal.” This doesn’t sound like a guy who was embarrassed … Continue reading This Doesn’t Sound Like A Humbled Coach

USC Saturday Buzz: Bronny, We Hardly Knew You

What to say about Bronny James? He was an unselfish teammate and blended into the squad nicely this season without any drama. He’s the type of role player any coach would like on the roster. But are those the attributes of someone who will get drafted? If smart, he will transfer to another school. Now that he is gone, what about the shameless self-promotion USC … Continue reading USC Saturday Buzz: Bronny, We Hardly Knew You

The USC Friday Column Supplement

Eric Musselman is being introduced to the media today. So I found a picture of when Bob Boyd was introduced to the media by athletic director Jess Hill on March 22, 1966. Bill Sharman was mentioned as a candidate for the job. Later in the day after Boyd was offered the job, Sharman was named coach of the San Francisco Warriors. Sharman took the Warriors … Continue reading The USC Friday Column Supplement
