So Lincoln Riley was spending time at Tuesday’s spring practice watching the defense, which was supposedly a big deal. Wasn’t that what he said he was going to do 12 months ago? And frankly, USC doesn’t need him to do it now. It got rid of most of the defensive coaches from the previous two years. D’Anton Lynn and Co. don’t need a Mike Leach … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Lincoln Riley Is 12 Months Late
Remember when USC athletic director Jen Cohen recommended to Washington president Ana Marie Cauce that the Huskies use the Parker Executive Search firm to hire a new atheltic director? The Huskies hired Troy Dannen from Tulane. Five months later, Dannen is off to Nebraska. There is grumbling in Seattle today over the decision to use Parker for the search. Washington now needs an A.D. and a … Continue reading A Big Mark From USC Pro Day
Caleb Williams was the center of attention during USC Pro Day today. Was he perfect on every throw? Of course not. Did he play the part of a QB who will be the No. 1 pick in the NFL Draft? Yes. The first day of spring football practice is usually uneventful but it’s already clear USC needs a wide receiver from the spring practice. Or more. “Without a shadow of a doubt (we will add one),” wide receivers coach Dennis Simmons said. USC will also be looking for an offensive tackle in the portal. Elijah Paige and Mason Murphy are the top tackles. “The depth is … Continue reading USC Needs A Wide Receiver
I’m not crazy about USC moving Jonah Monheim from left tackle to center. Here’s why: USC is likely to have a first-year starter at quarterback (Miller Moss), so it’s vital to have an experienced left tackle. Monheim started last season at left tackle and the season before at right tackle. Monheim sees his NFL future as an interior lineman, apparently, so that’s one reason for … Continue reading USC Notes: Not Crazy About This Position Switch
