It’s still perplexing how players did things in the 1970’s that are rarely happening today despite all the passing that takes place. Safety Charles Phillips had three interceptions in USC’s 55-24 victory over Notre Dame in 1974. And Dennis Thurman intercepted passes in seven straight games.
