USC Morning Buzz: An Amazing Churn Rate

USC men’s basketball lost 15 players from last year’s roster. Eric Musselman has brought in 13 new players. That doesn’t even include the 11 players who left two years ago in Andy Enfield’s last year plus the three players who committed but never showed up after Enfield left. That’s an incredible churn of players: 39 in three years. It’s like a football program. Is it … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: An Amazing Churn Rate

USC Morning Buzz: The Revolving Door Continues

USC made a big deal out of hiring Amy Broadhead in a “groundbreaking” role as the first-ever general manager of the women’s basketball program last September. She had worked for Puma, Nike and Adidas and was going to transform the program. “If I’m being honest, it’s the women’s version of the Yankees,” Broadhead told the Orange County Register in a positive story shortly after being hired. … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: The Revolving Door Continues

The Transfer Portal Is A Joke, Again (And Again)

How ridiculous is the transfer portal? High Point guard Kezza Giffa committed to USC and three days later decommitted. Where are all those basketball recruiting experts who said USC getting Giffa was significant now that he decommitted? They go silent. Just like the ones in football when something similar happens. And how many of the players that Eric Musselman is bringing in next season will … Continue reading The Transfer Portal Is A Joke, Again (And Again)

USC Guard Kayleigh Heckel Transferring To UConn

USC freshman guard Kayleigh Heckel has finally made a decision and she is transferring to UConn. Talk about a change of atmosphere. She leaves player-friendly Lindsay Gottlieb for the demanding Geno Auriemma. But maybe that’s why she made the move. Heckel was an up-and-comer for USC last season and figured to play a vital role at USC, especially with JuJu Watkins injured. But now she … Continue reading USC Guard Kayleigh Heckel Transferring To UConn

USC Basketball Transfer Madness Continues

I’ve been critical of USC basketball for only taking mid-major transfers but that changed today when Auburn’s Chad Baker-Mazara committed. He averaged 12.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He is Auburn’s second-leading scorer last season. No sooner did Baker-Mazara, then Keonte Jones of Cal State Northridge decommitted from USC. The basketball portal is a joke. By the way, Baker-Mazara will be 26 years old … Continue reading USC Basketball Transfer Madness Continues
