USC Morning Buzz: One Reason For Dragged Out Coaching Search

Here’s a pretty good reason the search for a defensive coordinator seems to have dragged on this long: Someone involved has told me that USC has told candidates they must keep the entire defensive staff. That would mean keeping four assistant coaches. It’s quite a condition because most self-respecting coordinators want to bring at least 1-2 guys with them. It will really be interesting to … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: One Reason For Dragged Out Coaching Search

USC Morning Buzz: Husan Longstreet To LSU

Husan Longstreet has signed with LSU, according to CBS Sports. He will be expected to play behind Sam Leavitt, unless Leavitt cannot recover in time from a foot injury. But LSU also has Elon transfer Landen Clark, so Longstreet might be No. 3. It’s a big win for Lane Kiffin. Personally, I would have gone to a smaller school for a year and played. Matt … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Husan Longstreet To LSU

USC Morning Buzz: Another Example Of Coaching Malpractice

Kyle Whittingham told Urban Meyer that Michigan did not have a dedicated quarterback coach to work with Bryce Underwood last season. Talk about coaching malpractice. It’s almost amazing the Wolverines won nine games last season with the coaching shenanigans that went on within the program. Also, let’s remember that USC’s signature win last season was beating Michigan. Kind of more understandable today. Congratulations, Lincoln. If … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Another Example Of Coaching Malpractice

USC Notes: There’s Always Something Going On

Remember a couple weeks ago Keyshawn Johnson said Lincoln Riley “knows nothing about being a Trojan.” I heard Johnson actually reached out to Riley afterward on an unrelated matter. What I haven’t heard is whether Riley responded. Who knows with Riley? Is Alijah Arenas going to play this week? I’ve heard USC coach Eric Musselman wants him to play but his family still has concerns. Continue reading USC Notes: There’s Always Something Going On

USC Morning Buzz: Quarterbacks Shaking Up Transfer Portal

First, a little news. USC’s Board of Trustees are expected to vote next month on a new president. They were supposed to vote this month but could not get a quorum. Some people are already panicking about Husan Longstreet because Sam Leavitt committed to Oregon and Dylan Raiola committed to Oregon. There are still teams that need quarterbacks. Like Miami, for instance. Also, would it … Continue reading USC Morning Buzz: Quarterbacks Shaking Up Transfer Portal

USC Notes: Where Are The Caleb Williams Critics?

I will say it again: Why does anyone listen to this guy? USC had a one-point victory (men’s basketball) and one-point loss (women’s basketball) at Minnesota this weekend. The takeaway continues to be that USC women’s basketball had a terrible transfer portal. It’s now a question whether they make the NCAA Tournament.
