Last night’s Santa Margarita football game featured QB Fletch Palmer throwing a TD pass to WR Grant Van Raaphorst. Palmer is the son of Santa Margarita coach and ex-USC QB Carson Palmer. Van Raaphorst was the son of former USC QB Mike Van Raaphorst. Carson Palmer and Mike Van Raaphorst were teammates at USC. Some sad news: Ralph Allman, who was a huge supporter of … Continue reading USC Notes: Former Quarterbacks Have Sons Teaming Up

As usual, USC’s roster is full of double numbers or two guys wearing the same jersey number. Meanwhile, not a single player is wearing the once great No. 42. It was worn by Ricky Bell, Pat Cannemela, C.R. Roberts and Ronnie Lott. On second thought, better that no one wears it. I’m not sure anyone would be worthy of its tradition. He is also considering Oregon, Kentucky, SMU, and Arizona. What doesn’t compute here? I don’t really think it’s that important in many ways because quarterbacks are now easily available in the transfer portal. But given the way USC … Continue reading Saturday Buzz: USC Adds A QB*
