USC wasn’t very good in 1996-97, going 12-11 in those two seasons. But the Trojans still landed two big quarterbacks from Southern California after the 1997 season: Carson Palmer from Santa Margarita and Jason Thomas from Dominguez. So what does it say when two of the nation’s best (D.J. Uiagalelei, Bryce Young) are headed to Clemson and Alabama? Clay Helton‘s coaching speciality is the quarterback … Continue reading Morning Buzz: Southern California Used To A USC Fortress

I wrote about this on Sept. 2 and now it is official: Bryce Young has flipped his commitment from USC to Alabama. So now the perceived crown jewel of the recruiting class and only five-star is no longer part another average recruiting class. Or less-than-average by USC standards. Those are scripted plays and it makes sense because there was talk of discontent last week with the fact St. Brown caught only one pass vs. BYU. And if Clay Helton doesn’t like something, it is an unhappy skill player. Remember two years ago when Michael Pittman’s … Continue reading USC Notes: Get The Stars The Ball

If the attendance was nothing special, there was a special atmosphere at the Coliseum on Friday night with Reggie Bush in attendance. I won’t get into Bush’s refusal to show contrition for his actions or his past comments putting blame on USC. He showed up and took a shot at Clay Helton. You don’t see that from Matt Leinart. The end-zone celebration with Markese Stepp … Continue reading Reggie Bush Creates Special Atmosphere
